The accident rate in Payson City has declined steadily since the present safety program was begun by the mayor and the safety council. From January 1 to July 1. 1958, there were 36 reported accidents. For the same period in 1959, there were 3d, and in 1960 there were only 24. The installation of fourway stop signs and yield right of way signs on dangerous corners have contributed much to help bring down the percentage of accidents. The safety council also reports a certain amount of vandalism throughout the city. Stop signs have been knocked down and street lights broken.
