Jerry Mortensen, who has fulfilled an LDS mission in Western Canada, will be welcomed home at a meeting to be held July F3, p.m., at Pay-so- n Third ward. Elder Mortensen was district president for eight months and also served as second counselor to Pres. Moroni Larson. The Vances plan to move .to Pueblo, Colorado, where she has accepted a position in a bank. Calls for Applications Mayor G. Osmond Dunford, who conducted the meeting, called for applications for city treasurer to be submitted to him on or before July 21, when the next council meeting will be held. Raymond Simpson met with the council and discussed with them the problem of getting irrigation water to his lot on Eighth West. The lot has no water with it and Mr. Simpson was advised that if he could rent or purchase water, the right to use the city ditch running in front of his place would be granted to him. Also meeting with the council were De-MElmer and his father, Lee Elmer, and Frank Bcckstrom. Mr. Elmer requested city water to a new home he was building at Ninth East between Second and Third South. It was suggested th3t a 66 foot roadway be deeded to the city beginning on Second South. The matter was referred to councilmen Max Warner and Waldo Wilson for further investigation. ar Mr. Berkstroin submitted a group insur- ance plan to the city for coverage of all city employees. The matter was tabled for further study of other plans submitted. The mayor reported that he felt that the Fourth of July celebration sponsored by the Seventies Quorum of Nebo Stake was highly successful and that they deserved a vote of thanks from the city. It was reported that the quorum made $200 during the day's activities. Make Tabulation of Bond Election An official tabulation of the voting of the special bond election held June 30 was made by the council. It was found that the unofficial returns given were correct. The hospital proposal to bond for $60,000 passed by a vote of 301 to 31 and the fire station proposal to bond for $30,000 passed 265 to 61. An ordinance was adopted by unanimous vote controlling the placing of obstructions of any kind in city irrigation ditches and the size of culverts used by property owners in the ditches running in front of their property. The ordinance as adopted will be published in next weeks Chronicle.
