Herbert, motored to San Diego, Calif., on the 30th of April. They spent one night in Las Vegas, then drove on to San Diego, where they met their son and husband, Blake S. Herbert, FP2, who arrived from the Far East, aboard the USS Dixie, on the 3rd of May. While in San Diego, they enjoyed visiting many places of interest. Mr. and Mrs. George Herbert remained in San Diego for a week and then returned home, while Mr. and Mrs. Blake S. Herbert will remain in San Diego, until Blake is released from the Navy, which is expected during the latter part of July. Army Sergeant First Class Blaint Cannon, whose wife, Beth, lives at Payson, recently arrived in Hawaii and is now a member of the 25th Infantry Division. The Tropic Lightning divie sion is continuing its training program using valuable experience gained in Korea. Sergeant Cannon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Cannon, is a cook. He entered the Army in May post-truc- 1943. Mrs. Alva T. Larsen, Mrs. Beatrice Larsen and Mrs. Leo Leifson, spent last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Camp Colo., with servicemen, LarBoth young son and Leifson. men have received overseas assignment, with Larsen going to the South Pacific and Leifson to Germany. Among the group who gathered for exchange of family news and who enjoyed several dinners together were Leland Elmer, his daughter and her husband of Panguitch; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Staheli and son, Leon, of California; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Elmer and family of Orem; Mr. and Mrs. DeMar Elmer and family of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Staheli and family of Marysvale; Mr. and Mrs. Merle ' Lundell and family of Payson and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wilde and family of Eureka. Only member of the family not present was a daughter, Mrs. Elgie Kay of California. During their visit in Payson, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Staheli have been entertained by many of their friends.
