The annual publication is a climax to studies of the entire year taught by Mrs. Mary Curtis. Mrs. Curtis also teaches the same subjects to students at Taylar School, spending a half day with each group of students. One of the delights of the work came about Monday afternoon when five students, whose stories xvere judged best by a committee of students, were allowed to skip school for a couple of hour. They took their stories to the home of Mrs. Madoline Dixon, correspondent for the Payson Chronicle, and asked for sug- - gestions on improvement, the stories were read punch and cookies were served by Mrs. Dixon and the accompanying picture was taken. Using a hunt and peck system, they tried out Mrs. Dixons typewriter, pictured from left to right: Donna Mae Spencer, Dayne Williams at the typewriter, Karen Carter, Bonnie Butler, and Judith Wride. Titles of their stories, in se- quence as authors are named above, are: A Scare at Night; The Train Crash; The Missing Plane; Horse Radish; The Little Elf; Judges selected The Little Elf and A Scare at Night as best of the group. i. |
