The Cocklebur Riding club team will play a match game in the Amateur Rodeo staged Labor Day evening by their club against the Nephi Club team. The Amateur Rodeo held in connection each year with Pay-so- n Harvest Days and Homecoming Celebration will be sponsored by the Cocklebur Riding club of Payson. The committee planning the rodeo are Selby Dixon, Max Depew, Cavite Barnett, and Waldo Wilson. The Rodeo will be held in the Cocklebur Arena just east of the race track. The rodeo will be staged on Labor Day night beginning at 8 p.m. The Cockleburs have palnned and have included the following events: calf roping, wild cow milking, steer riding, wild horse riding, cutting horse, a drill and possibly a ladies drill. The local horsemen have arranged with the other riding clubs in district five of the USWRCA for each of them to enter a man in each of the events with a purse of $35 to be divided among the winners of each event. The feature event will be a broom polo game which Is be a good show ing arranged between the Cocklebur Riding Club team and the Nephi Riding Club team. The Cockleburs are the 1951 and 1952 state champions and the 1951 intermountain champions. They are playing in Murray on Saturday, August 30 for the 1952 intermountain championship.
