Bright and affectionate, she says she loved him as much as her own two little boys. Then it happened. Youve probably guessed. He was four years old, and was calling Mrs. Gislason mother when the father wrote that he had and was now iii a position to relieve Mrs. Gislason of the care of the little boy. Relieve her! But since our understanding is based largely on our own experiences, how could he be expected to understand? Legally, however, the little fellow belonged to his father! Speaking in the uranium prospectors language, southeastern Utah is hot. All of which means that the Government wants the uranium ore, and southeastern Utah has not only produced a lot of high and low grade uranium ore but has more. Just where it is, remains to be found and hundreds of uranium prospectors are now in the field searching canyons, deserts, bluffs and out of the way places for the precious mineral that goes to make the famous A Bomb. At Denver, Sumner T. Pike, speaking before the Colorado Mining Association declared that the Atomic Energy Commission was hoping for a big strike in Utah or Colorado; that it would not only be "immensely important to the nation, but tremendously profitable for the owners. "What we need, he continued, "is a uranium discovery comparable to the copper deposit at Bingham Canyon, Utah. Taking cogni?.ance of the situation, an eastern engineering corporation has already sent two engineers ti moab where they will mike their headquarters while prospecting the region with special equipment. Instead of using the time honored burro, these modern prospectors have a plane equipped with a ray detector similar to a Gieger counter. The ray detector tube is suspended from the bottom of the plane and detects the presence of bodies of ore as far away as a thousand feet. Engineers spent four years in perfecting the apparatus. By constantly reminding herself that a little hoy needed his father; by recalling the happy hours he had brought into her life for four wonderful years.
