celebrate the many sports and games that can be read about in books The 2002 Summer Reading Program "Join the Winner's Circle" is open to readers of all ages are invited to join the program with a parent or other helper who will read to them Children ages 6 and up who are reading on their owti can read any books they Civic Library choose A daily log will be provided by the Gunnison Civic Library to keep track of the minutes you read each week For every five days of continuous reading you do your name will be put in a drawing for the grand prize of a quilt Children sixth grade and up Graduation Party This year’s the 2002 Annual preparations are order party will commence following the dance on May 24 2002 at :30 pm at Gunnison Valley High SchoolAs tradition has carried over the past years this year will stay close to the format of the past There will be games videos volleyball ping pong as well as plenty of food snacks and drinksThe Gunnison Valley Businesses have once again rallied to the needs of our seniors and are in full support in monies and donated gifts to be given as door prizes Huge thanks is extended to these businesses cities of the valley Central Utah Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol parents as well as businesses in surrounding areas for their generosity in this behalf The arrangements of the party are made so much easier and less stressful knowing the one of the most unique high school gatherings in the state will move into its 13h year when the annual Gunnison Valley High School Alumni Reunion is held May 25 2002 at the school in Gunnison The annual event will begin with a hour at 5 pm followed by dinner at 6 pm Carl Mellor alumnus of the school will again cater the dinner Mellor operates a catering service in Lehi along with otherbusiness operations Phyllis Greener of the event said invitations have been sent to some 2500 alumni of the school So far reservations have been received from hundreds of former students and graduates throughout the country Reservations are still available by contacting Lana Larson Gunnison EMTs honored as part of EMS Week to assist the community The EMTs are very dedicated and provide excellent One is of Mt Baldy and the other of Mt Musinea both on the program mountain range east ot Gunnison Mr Anderson who will be 98 years ot age has attended every reunion ot the school Lawrence Anderson In addition to the schoolwide reunion many classes are planning individual meetings during the evening Greener said a major announcement concerning the expansion of the alumni program will be made at the1 event since its inception in 1989 The school giaduated its first class m 1921 and some 4500 persons have graduated from the school over the1 81 years since Donald Hill school principal will be master of ceremonies Mr Hill is retiring as principal and will transfer to the South Sanpete School District Ollice in tile' fall Kirk Anderson another GVHS alumnus will be the new principal next vear Memorial Day Weekend Memorial Day weekend May 24 and 25 marks the annual Scandinavian Heritage Festival held along Heritage Highway 89 in Ephraim Utah The festivities kick off May 24 with craft booths and Scandinavian Heritage exhibits opening at 2 pm Then at 7 pm the Annual Little Denmark Supper begins this year featuring international dancing and entertainment Tickets are available at the door At
