never a dull moment came out against a very tall and strong Monticello team and started out slow to push them allowing Monticello around on the offensive boards but came on strong in the end w ith a good strong combination of players on the floor to outlast the Buckaroos in overtime The boys really played with heart when it counted and sparked some in the third and fourth strong runs riod Cranecame upoffensively and tipped in a to put the Bulldogs up Monticello then came by 5 points down strong and their big man drilled a three from the far corner to bring Monticello to within 2 With a rough charging call going against Dyreng Monticello turned around and tied the game Casey Dy reng pushed dow n the court and drove to the hoop drawing the foul and sank tw o tough free thro ws toputthe Bulldogs upby 2 Monticello with 16 seconds left pushed the ball quarter The Bui Idogs also took betlercare of the ball cutting their turnovers down from 20 to 0 from the last game Every game Crane The Bulldogs came into this past record and comeout the week w ith record The Bulldogs week with a started out the week traveling to on Wednesday and played good ball and came away with a win The boy s came out strong and played some solid ball w ith Chad Hill show ing some good rebounding and some great inside play and Casey Dyreng hit 3 for Parowan 4 from the 3 point line and the field for 2 from The Rams seem to stay in the game the entire time until the last quarter when the Bulldogs finally put it all together and played with energy and strength and began to walk away from Parowan The Bulldogs still have some work to do to come together as a team and turnovers still plague them but Freshmen post two wins GVH The Gunnison freshmen boys’ basketball team is on track for a winning season w ith a record of two wins and no losses Last Saturday in their first game of the season they defeated Piute 47 to 41 This week they played at Parowan and defeated the Rams 44 to 31 In an exciting game with Piute the boys used a pressing defense to rattle Piute and scored the first five points of the ball game Piute battled backWith the help of several Gunnison turnovers and good rebounding they took a 3 to 12 lead at the end of the first quarter Paul Christensen play ed a major role in keeping Gunnison in the game by scoring five points and making two steals In the second quarter Piute played too physical and ended up in foul trouble Gunnison took advantage of the situation by outscoring the Thunderbirds nine to four and took a 2 to 17 lead into halftime Piute made some adjustments during halftime that caused the Gunnison boys trouble during the third quarter Several turnovers and seven missed free throws by the Bulldogs contribThe third uted to a Piute comeback quarter ended w ith the score tied 3 to ecuted their press better and retook control of the boards At the si x minute mark Jim Neill threaded the key w ith a nifty pass to Mellor that built the lead
