It’s National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day! What a great idea With the holidays just around the comer it’s an ideal time to clean out those moldy growing leftovers and make way for turkey stuffing and pumpkin pie Whirlpool Corporation is the sponsor of this special day and they believe an organized clean refrigerator is the perfect way to start the holiday season Cleaning out the refrigerator is not one of my favorite chores hate to open a container and find fuzzy growth on leftover spaghetti and sauce Or mold growing through and between the kernels or leftover rice What I hate the most is cleaning out the vegetable crisper The mush in the bottom is anything but crisp! Slimy green onions blemished tomatoes whimpy brown celery or a bag of green gooey stuff that used to be spinach Yuck! Leftovers are really nice for lunch the following day but after about a week even if there is no mold of funky odor it is scary to eat them They may taste great but will hesitate at every bite to see if it tastes weird Maybe a timer on the containers would help You know a timer for about three days Then when you open the refrigerator the container could cry out to me for attention' to throw away the leftovers and wash the container When do clean out the refrigerator it looks so empty No one at our house notices the freshly washed glass shelves that you can now even see through or how easily the milk jug slides out because the shelf is no longer sticky All the kids seem to see and immediately complain about is: “There is nothing in this house to eat” However if the fridge is loaded with formally eatgross unidentifiable able food products in plastic containers hey there is food in our house An irritating result of a clean refrigerator is all of the empty plastic containers overflowing from the cupboard They need to be restacked and organized so they don’t tumble out when someone opens the cupboard door But I shouldn’t worry with all the holiday food next week those little containers will soon be full and growing once again Join in the fun today and share the celebration of “National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day” Take a few minutes from your busy schedule plug your nose and tackle your frigerator Make way for a new variety of bacteria growing specimens This colums in the product of Lori’s rambling and often disjointed thoughts This conversational style piece
