teacher at Gunnison Valley High School was selected as 1996 Speech Educator of the Year by the Distinguished Service Award Selection Committee from the Utah High School Activities Association The Distinguished Service Award was initiated in 987 to honor those whose contributions and service to high school activities have gone beyond the “second mile” Hill currently teaches English and speech along with coaching the speech team at Gunnison Valley High School As coach she promotes value in activities and programs involving the youth She has touched many lives because of her dedication and mph in a 20 mph school zone He noted that the yellow lights on the speed limit sign were not flashing as he drove by Because he was on his way through town and wouldn’t be around to appear in court the policeman took him right then to see the judge Principal Rodney Anderson at the elementary school Evans paid a $50 fine and was released to go In his letter he accused the city of having a “speed trap for the sole purpose of raising revenue” But he commented that the main purpose for his letter was to warn the council members of the “high risk of using an elementaly as a courtroom” Administrator Limb told the council that he has researched the law and that the lights don’t have to be flashing to be picked up for speeding in the school zone The council acknowledged that taking unknown people into the school especially when it is in session is a dangerous practice Council age” Member Brian Jensen said “I do think he’s process shouldn’t take place at Council Member Elizabeth Newman canine handler at CUCF Newman admits that the dog is not the most sociable “but know what his behavior is and don’t think told him he would harm any body unless to” Newman and his German Shepherd are two members of the five man ten dog canine unit at the prison “We work as a team the dog is my partner and I’m his partner" explained Newman “You get really close” Each canine handler is trainer to two dogs Newman’s German Shepherd is trained in dog) drugs and apprehension He also handles a Bloodhound trained to training “to keep the dogs up” The handlers use a “bite suit” to train the dogs for apprehension Dogs are not trained to fight but “to bark and hold them” If it’s necessary the dogs are trained to bite the most available part of the body “It’s usually the arm that’s how people protect themselves” said Newman But to give the dog training “We also do training where we don’t present and arm to make sure the dog isn’t just trying to go after an arm or a leg ” Another
