we will make it all go away Then we wonder why no one has any respect for anything or anyBy Elaine Blackburn body Trooper Terry C Smith Utah Highway Patrol Public Information and Fducation Officer As we grew up most of us can member our moms being home when we came in from school or play Very few mothers worked outside the home at that time remember my mom ing there when came home from also had the opportunity to school live with my grandparents during my last year of high school at South Sevier My Grandmother was there to see me off to school in the morning and off to woik after school also remember great As a child weekends when we would load the car and head into the mountains for the weekend Mom would cook chicken and make potato salad all day Friday so we could escape We would play softball and have a great time It was great to get away as my dad was ways on call and lie had to work allot of weekends Soon was grown and now am a parent but it’s not a pretty picture We are workers and parents If we work hard and are tired it is allot easier to let someone or something else raise our children caught myself doing this and made some changes in my life Here's what mean by parenting Do you let the directors and people in Hollywood decide what is appropriate for your childien to see and watch? Do you let the television companies decide what your childien see? From the time they gel home until about 6:00 pm the airways are full of talk shows Now if you really want to be enlightened watch one and see the trash they are pushing The more outrageous and perverse the better As we grew up in the 50’s and 60's the major influences in our life were I) family 2) church 3) school 4) peers 5) media For our children the order is much dilferent Media is first then peers school family and church last Do you see anything wrong wiih this picture? We are letting everyone else raise our children And to make up for our status we will get our children out of By Dou? local Your local believe that common sense and courtesy are dead in this country There is a way we can change things because it's never too late Ask yourself these questions: - Do know what my children are watching? If not maybe should take the time to watch a few shows with them and see what they are being exposed to Do know what kind of music my should listen children like? If not (here is some music that will shock you especially if you listen to the words as can guarantee your children are - Do know what type of books and magazines they read? You don't have to censor it but you should have an idea of what they are reading so you can talk to them and let them know how you feel about different things - Am letting the public teach mu children? You need to talk to your children and let them know how you feel and what you believe - Am involved in my children's education? If not you need to be a part of the process They need your help and support More than ever before our children need to learn respect discipline and courtesy Most of all they need to know that there are consequences for their actions and they are responsible for their actions It's time to turn things around It's never loo late Administrator Richfield Care Center We are living in a time of great expectations much pressure high stress and big disappointments When things don't go our way and we get feeling down or blue or cranky we may become uncooperative grouchy or even angry Moods result from a complex teraction between the internal brain chemistry and the external events you experience In the brain three major neurotransmitter (Serotonin Dopamine and Norepinephrine) affect the way we feel The full extent of how these three neurotransmitter work is but it is not very well understood known that they are being generated all the time and they are affected by external stimuli such as food drugs and smells which can cause rapid changes in the production and balance of these chemicals While feeling sullen is important to the development of a sense of self analysis one doesn't benefit rom extended periods of "bad moods" Following are some suggestions to help shake those undesirable moods that plague us all occasionally: Trace the source of your bad mood Common source of bad moods include illness loneliness boredom unrealistic expectationsfailure to acby complish a goal catastrophizing making mountains out of molehills and unacknowledged disappointment guilt or anger By taking the time to analyze what was happening in your life before the bad mood occurred is The useful Knowing where the negative meet the needs of the parties Honorable Glen E Clark and the Hon- feelings come from gives you some orable Judith A Boulden have been sense of control and uncovering the appointed from the District of Utah cause of your bad mood may actually The Honorable Mark B McFeeley give you clues on how to remedy it from the District of New Mexico has Make a list of all the positive things been appointed as chief judge applicable District Court The Bankruptcy Appellate Panel is comprised of nine United States Bankruptcy Judges currently serving within the Tenth Circuit Beginning 1996 panels will July hear appeals in various locations to itcioacr newspaper i§ al§o )om is also local 3ottcc foe: 23u3ine§3 Business Cards 2lttnouncetnent§ Wedding Announcements 20 MINUTES Blood pressure drops to normal Pulse rate drops to normal Body temperature of hands and feet increases to normal 8 HOURS Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal Oxygen level in blood increases to normal 24 NCR Forms m Soimsj!
