any enemies His penmanship was atrocious and he had trouble with times tables but his reading was on grade level There really wasn’t any reason to pay much attention to Brian And what was the problem It’s easy to remember the outspoken students They demand your Mention They act up They act out They clown They chatter Energy clothed in jeans and sneakers and chewing gum cannot be ignored It’s easy to remember the brilliant students They shine They positively glow They radiate everything that made a teacher want to become a teacher It’s easy to remember the students in pain They hurt and they cry for you And you cry for them Oh but the kid who is simply there The kid who is not too good but not too bad This is the child who presents our greatest challenge because he I am terrified to admit is the child most at risk of falling though those cracks They’re the ones so easy to overlook I like Brian although he did tend to whine when he talked And he did come to class five minutes late almost every other day And he did draw pictures and daydream when I know he could’ve done the work if he’d only paid attention He also hated PJE He always had excuses why he couldn’t play Maybe that’s why I noticed him that Beef producers helping seniors in the Region 12 The Gunnison Bulldogs are participating Tournament tonight against Manti The game begins at 7:00 pm and expected to be a tough match for both schools Cougar pays visit to Fairview Home scrambled into the dining room with the hunters in hot pursuit They managed to herd the confused cat back into the bedroom and shut the door keeping it out of the main house He destroyed the door He destroyed a wooden chair and tried to get bock through the door into the dining room “That door looked like Freddy Krueger took a swipe at it" observed one about 4:00 pm last Thursday Fairview Police Chief Jim Cheney got an unusual calL “We’ve got a cougar in Ray Nielsen’s bed- room At room!" started about 10:00 that morning when cougar hunters Terry Rigby and Keven Poulson started their dogs on a cougar trail north-- west of Fairview It tot them over an hour to catch up with the cat They chased the cougar for miles following it through herds of cattle About 12:30 and over haystacks the cat ran through a couple of yards and was treed in a large pine tree behind the home of late State Ray Nielsen about Representative 500 North on Milbum Road “We tied the dogs under the tree to hold the cat while we tried to decide what to do” said Poulson It wasn’t long before word got out and curious spectators started arriving including a Utah Fuel bus with 35 miners on board “I kept telling people not to get close” said Poulson “We didn’t want anybody to get hurt” The hunters decided not to shoot the cat because they didn’t want to risk wounding it and having it loose in town “We pulled the dogs and backed off hoping he’d come down and we could run him another day I bet there were 150 to 200 people that came to watch” The cougar made nervous by all the attention stayed put for almost three and a half hours before making his break He dashed around a small storage shed and crashed through a window in a guest bed It all and onlooker The cat was canoed behind a door that opened into the garage and refused to come out but took out of it The hunters pulled the hinge pins on the garage door and removed it Seeing daylight the cat made another break for it Instead of heading fa the hills he took off through yards scattering a flock of geese and peacocks on his way to town He finally cornered and shot near the barber shop An examination by DWR Con- servation Officer Brad Bradley showed the cougar to be a two and a half year old male “He’s kinda skinny” said Bradley “Probably a transient cat looking for a place to live” The cat measured 86" from tip of nose to topof tail “That’s a male” said big cat for a Bradley We’re really pretty lucky” said Chief Cheney “There could have been a lot more damage and nobody got hurt” Mrs Nielsen was out of town and not available for comment but officer Bradley summed it up well when he said “they really don’t make very good house pets” How to do battle with TAX and win
