Show lfl Thfl niinpison Valiev News Wednesday August 25 1993 Cruzin' Demolition Derby set for Thursday The Demolition Derby is ready to go and packed with thrills and chills for fans young and old The Derby will be held on Thursday August 26th beginning at 7:00 pm at the Sanpete County Fairgrounds The Derby is always one of the favorite events of the fair and if ticket sales are any indication there will be an even largccrowd at the event this year than last Tickets for the derby can be picked up in advance at the county Treasurer’s office in Manti Only the first 50 cars will be allowed to compete in 5 separate heats of 10 cars each The top two winners of each heat will then be allowed back to determine the champion At the conclusion of this heat all cars still able to run will be back for a final heat called the Wipeout to determine the final County Car Show The 1993 Sanpete County Car will be held on Saturday August 28 th from 8:00 am to 5:00 will be held at the Manti It pm High School just west of the fairThere are 38 grounds in Manti classes in which to enter a car and there will be 10 best awards given out along with the best in each There are nearly 100 troclass Sanpete phies to be presented County has a good share of the old classics and everyone needs tocome and participate and vote for their favorite classic Show winner the car will not have a lot of metal left on it The trunk will be in the back scat if it is still there at all and the front end will be up near where the driver is Again this year the Sanpete as an intermis- sion activity Mutton Bustin’ will be held This has proved to be a very popular event with the audience Kids 9 and under are challenged to ride a mutton for several seconds Most of the them learn early what it is like to ride a bronco as they end up squarely on the ground right out of the chuts The Derby is fun for the entire family and prove to be another great contest for the cars and their drivers so don’t miss out on this one Flan to be at the Fairgrounds on Thursday August 26th for the 1993 Sanpete County Demolition A new feature will be added this There will be a model car year Gunnison Stake Singles plan to hold Fireside Demolition Derby set for Thursday August 26 Fifty cars will take to the arena at the Sanpete County Fairgrounds on Thursday evening and only one will end the competition running This has been a very popular event at the County Fair and this year will be no Derby contest for anyone under the age of 16 Entry fee for this model car contest will be $200 Every participant will receive a dash plaque and a vote for the cars just like the adults do The model cars need to be brought to the judging stand between the hours of 8 am and 10 am to be eligible to compete A special thank you goes out to all the sponsors of the car show for without them there would be no car show So come and participate and even if you don't have a classic car come and relive some of those special memories and vote for your favorite car The country with the greatest length of railroad is the US with 184235 miles of track exception The Gunnison Stake Single Adults will hold a Regional side on August 29 1993 Fire- at the Gunnison Stake Center All singles over25 are invited to attend Brother and Sister Gary will present the ProMortensen Singles from the Sanpete gram Region and the Sevier Region arc invited to enjoy this with us Gunnison Quilt Guild is being established A Gunnison Valley Quilters Guild is being formed in Gunnison All interested may attend An orga- nizational meeting will be held September 8th at 7:30 p re at the Gunnison City Library The classes will be held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the City Library For further information call Joanne Mortensen at Fire safety tips for kids Fire is an important part of our lives We use it to cook food and use it as a source of warmth on a cold night But if uncontrolled fire can bring injury -
