The cost of black powder hunting this year is the same as for rifle and archery The initial big game license runs $5 with an additional $14 for the tag Black powder hunters are allowed one buck deer In 1992 muzzleloader success was 26 percent compared to 28 percent for the general season crowd That’s pretty good considering the handicap of open sights and single shot Since a close encounter with a rutting monarch is distinctly higher during the later season a trophy hunter should strongly consider cap and ball If you’re tired of trying to put horns on one doe after another you may wish to consider the antlerless option Beginning this year you can opt for an antlerless deer successful Phase I applicants by mail in application foigo the opportunity to hunt during the rifle archery or muzzleloader seasons From this date on archery and muzzleloader hunters will get a crack at purchasing any leftover permits Beginning July 26 rifle hunters can apply for remaining permits Ajitlerless deer hunters enjoy a harvest rate almost three times that of general season hunters which makes this option perfect for first time or novice hunters who with low success during the rifle can be discouraged buck hunt Except in certain weapon restriction areas doe hunters aren’t limited to a single hunting methods like other ‘choose your season’ hunters That means more opportunity with a variety of hunting techniques “Things ain’t what they used to be” That goes for the Utah deer hunt Restructuring a long held tradition is difficult But if the program works it will spread out the pressure and a few more bucks That adds up to a better quality hunt which is what we’re all after Summer Reading Program at Library very successful!
