signed a contract with Motorola of the enhanced emergency to cover the installation “911” equipment at the County Courthouse CommuniThis was done during the County Comcation center missioners meeting on Tuesday As soon as the installation and testing has been comthe new system will go into pleted on the equipment operation possibly by the end of October The contract with Motorola carries a $77902 price tag Of that amount $50000 has been obtained in the form of a Community Development grant The remainder has been raised by means of a 50 cent monthly cure haree on telephone subscribers The surcharge will continue as the method of paying for the maintenance of the system Also during the Tuesday meeting the Commission also held a public hearing on the allocation of Sanpete block county’s position in Gunnison this week The Postal Service offered some for early retirement and Irmma Sorensen incentives opted to take the incentives and retire For Irmma this was a decision after working 25 years She started working for for the Post Office in Gunnison three hours a day on Saturdays for Leon Emery who was postmaster in the seventies There were four employees then and had to stagger the hours worked because they put mail out on Saturdays Irmma also as well as worked some mail on Sundays worked for Dick Gledhill and Marge Christensen after Leon Emery She reminisced a little and remembered that when she started to work for the postal service stamps were five cents Since then they have added such services as express and priority mail Meeting people and friends summed up her
