Gunnison downs North Sevier Wolves 0 Baseball team played two games this week and were victorious on both accounts They went up against North Sevier on Saturday and came away with a victory The Gunnison of Lions will hold "Walk For Sight" Walkathon May 16 Saturday morning May 16 at 10:(X) am the Gunnison Valley Lions Club will sponsor its second annual “Walk For Sight” Anyone 12 years of age and over who thinks he or she can walk the 9 miles form Mayfield “to Gunnison is eligible to enter An appropriate award will be presented by Gunnison’s mayor to the fastest walker and the oldest walker to compete the course Contestants will gather at the Mini Market building in Mayfield for the starting gun and walk will finish at the city hall office in Gunnison The 24 route follows Slate Highway and highway patrolmen will make sure the road is clear for the walkers Lions club members will be posted along the route with cold drinks and cookies to refuel the walkers Walkathon entry forms arc available at the High School office at City Hall and at the “Mid State Jeep” on Highway 89 in Gunnison Each walker will solicit his or her own pledged sponsors who will pay S 00 per mile for the distance walked If you would like to be one of the walkers this is what you should do: - Pick up and complete two copies of the sponsor’s pledge form List the sponsors on both copies indicating whether paid in advance or not One copy is to be turned into the starting official in Mayfield The remaining copy is for use of the walker in collecting and remitting pledges from sponsors who can be businesses parents friends neighbors etc 2 - The sponsor pledge for each mile walked is $100 per mile The pledged amount should be collected by the walker cither before the Walkathon or within week after it The along with the money collected pledge sheet should be turned in to the jacketed Lion starter in Mayfield or to Lion President Marvin Fox at the Jeep store It’s Spring Test your legs by a walk in the country You will enjoy it and it is for a good purpose For more information call Lee Rcay at That's a lot of diapers!
