Pageant r the upcoming Stewart Recreation Committee discuss plans for upcoming season The Gunnison Valley Recreation Committee held a meeting last week to discuss the upcoming activities for the ball fields located in Gunnison behind the high school Several issues faced the group this year including a two tiercharge for little league players from Gunnison Representatives city and the School District and other interested citizens were present It was brought to the attention of the group that neither the school distinct or Gunnison City had a signed copy of the Recreational Park lease and Use Agreement Both of these entities agreed on the document with no changes The original document was issued in July of 1981 Presently the LDS church pays for the lights at the park while the school provides the lawn care and maintenance to the park Gunnison for the City has been responsible help needed to operate the facility which amounts to approximately 10 hours a week the equipconment Insurance registration cessions and officials They reported that these services cost the city of Gunnison $7000 approximately extra annually The calls for two people from the school district 2 from Gunnison City and from at large to serve on the board The school district appointed Donald Hill and Johnny Anderson to be In Monday their representatives agreement nights city council meeting Gunnison need annually proximately twelve of these are used each week of the season Concessions were also discussed and whether or not to hire a person to oversee the total program as well as do the buying They discussed whether or not each team should take time in the booth with volunteer help or even to let the concessions out to bid A decision was not reached Because of the way this board is set up they also discussed setting up a Gunnison Valley Recreation Committee for additional input from a broader base of citizens required sewer maintenance employee The Centerfield Town Council met on March 30 to discuss city business where they talked about a possible suit against the city and hired a new Sewer Maintenance properly There was also a discussion that will allow Sanpete County to represent Centerfield for Block Grants with E91 and fire protection and equipment in the future The County has established a new district that will represent the entire county for such representation and the council voted to go along Councilman Brad Jensen talked of a possible suit against with reference to Gerald Peterson and Sunrise Engineering passing over him for employment Gerald Peterson was an applicant for the inspector of the sewer system to be hired by Sunrise Engineering Mayor Dell Draper explained that he never told Sunrise not to hire Peterson but didn’t recommend his selection to Sunrise Continued on page 2 Gunnison City does with CIB Funding Gunnison City started an extensive water improvement project last year and because of low bids extra money will be used to improve the system even more The city is just now finishing with all of their $750000 water improvement project that added new lines a well and a 500000 gallon water tank to their system The money came from loans from Safe Drinking and Water Resources and a grant from CIB When it was all through and signed off the city took note of some $80000 that wasn’t used because of bids coming in lower than estimates about 10000 feet of 1" and 2" water lines that need to be upgraded to 6" lines They also have a few cast iron lines that will be replaced with some four to eight fire hydrants that will be updated from 4" to 6" connections These improvements are needed for the safety of parts of the town ?s well as to make the system more uniform Improved distribution will be the final outcome The project has already started with most of the work being done There will by the city employees be some parts that will be bid out Late summer will be the competition date Youth City Council plan workshop Youth is asking for public input The Forest Service has asked for public input into a proposal to create 47 miles of ATV road in the 12 mile area Since Sportsman are one of the groups who use this area the association is being asked to give comment on this proposal Mr Don Oakcrland U S Forest Ranger for the Manti LaSal National Forest will be there to give details on the issue Everyone is invited who is
