New Horizons says "Call for help if you need us" Verona Scott will be home for Christmas Verona Scott recently suffered a major heart attack and was not given must hope for walking again After d being in the Gunnison Valley Hospital she was to the Utah Valley Rehibilitation Center and will be walking with a cane this Christmas Congratulations to Vernona and we wish her the best be cane this Verona Scott will walking with Christmas Season Nearly six weeks ago Verona a major stroke Scott experienced Her initial prognosis was that she would be in a wheelchair for a long time but thanks to the staff at Gunnison Valley Hospital and Utah Center in Valley Rehabilitation Provo Scott will spent Christmas in her home walking about with the help of a cane After the stroke occurred in early Scott was taken to November After three Gunnison Hospital weeks her health care team decided to transfer her to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where she could receive therapy in the Center Rehabilitation According to her husband Earl she has improved 100 percent since then Though Mrs Scott can walk with the aid of a cane she still does not have full use of her right arm or hand also thd stroke left her with a major speech deficit However Scott’s husband remains optimistic about her speech gains: “She coming along good in speech” Mr Scott said he is extremely pleased with the care his wife has received both at Gunnison Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Rehabilitation Center Mr Scott said of the Rehab therapists: “They’re the You couldn’t ask for a greatest? nicer bunch of people” He said he the therapists physiappreciated cians and nurses who took time to meet with him and answer questhe H e also appreciated tions materials the Rehab educational Center provided him Had he understood strokes earlier he said he could have spotted certain symptoms including numbness and dizziness -
