DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS PRESENTED: The Jaycee's held their annual DSA Banquet last week This banquet has been conducted locally since 1946 Those receiving awards this year include: Dwight Inouye Distinguished Service Award G Douglas Willden Outstanding Young Farmer Award Kris Anderson and Gordon Rosenlund Outstanding Youth Awards and Linda Malmgren Outstanding Young Woman Award sen by a group of farmers and farm leaders from the community Outstanding Youth Awards were presented to Kris Anderson daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Anderson and Gordon Rosenlund son of Mr and Mrs Dale Rosenlund These awards were presented bv Diane and Allen Dyrcng This award is chosen by the faculty and staff at the Gunnison Valley High School Women Outstanding Young was presented to Linda and was presented Malmgren by Stella Hill Linda was chosen for this award for her outstanding service in all areas of the community This award is chosen by a panel of local club presidents and is voted by secret Award ballot Sen ice Award Distinguished was presented to Dr Dwight Inouye by Dr Von S Pratt Dr Inouye was given this award for all his contributions and service he has done for the and for all the good he community has brought to the area We would like to congratulate all of these outstanding people in our community and thank them for their efforts4o make our community better New proceedure set by Gunnison Valley Hospital for collecting monies due In an effort to reduce the total receivable at the Gunnison Valley Hospital a one time discount was offered to all owing past due debts to that facility There were three types of letters sent to owing hospital customers One to those already making of accounts those making irand to those owing but not making any attempt to pay The incentive to pay is a straight 20 percent discount as was approved by the board of directors Patrons were told that their business was appreciated and then explained the need and proposal of updating the Business Office poliThis will incies and procedures clude the installation of a new acand billing system the counting obtaining of additional training for admission and collections personnel and the adoption of new credit policies consistent with those of neighregular payments regular payments boring hospitals “We are taking these steps to serve you better and to assure that the hospital will be ale to continue to the personalized Quality provide service that our patients deserve” states Kathryn Caldwell Assistant - Financial Services Administrator She explains that prior to ima new accounting sysplementing tem they are interested in settling as many of their old accounts as possible The board authorized a one time 20 percent discount if the account is cleared by May 7th 1988 To qualify for the discount people can bring their payments with the letter to the Cashier’s office prior to 5:00 pm Friday may 7th If full payment can not be met by the date the letter asked for people to come in and negotiate a regular payment schedule to retire the account Some who are way pass due with their payments were told that if no attempt was made to bring the account current or set up regular payments their account would be turned over to a collection agency To date many had been in to discuss their bill at the hospital and to take advantage of the one time discount offer Centerfield to pursue sewer lagoon study About 60 Centerfield residents attended a public meeting to discuss a of construction the possibility sewer lagoon system for the city When a straw vote was taken at the end of the meeting 48 were in favor of proceeding with the plans to be present to the general public while 9 opposed Because of the positive vote at the meeting the council authorized Fillmore Utah Sunrise Engineering the necessary with to proceed loan money and factfinding grant avenues and bond election procedures $2000 a cost of approximately said Mavor Val Hansen He at pointed out that when this information was collected it would be presented to the people for their vote in the way of a bond election that would fund the project Hansen felt the meeting went very well with those attending asking good questions and being very open minded Sunrise estimated the cost of the necessary 32 acre lagoon system to be $19 million The lagoons would be located West of Centerfield near the river
