A disgruntled and distraught fisherman was stopped outside of Salina by the Highway Patrol for a check on a reported overcatch of fish A couple from Santaquin Mr and Mrs L Alverson had been fishing in Koosharem Reservoir when nearby fishermen noticed the accumulation of more than the eight fish allowed in one’s possession for a day's catch The Wildlife Resources personnel stopped the pair outside assisted of Salina by the Highway Patrol The Wildlife Resources officers asked to inspect the inside of the trailer and were He was refused permission then told they would have to be detained until a search warrant could be obtained Mr Alverson then commented that his wife was ill and had to be taken to a to hospital They traveled Gunnison Hospital where after obtaining a search warrant Wildlife Resources officers conducted a search finding the regular limit plus a couple of extra fish A further more thorough search was made and the officers found 38 more fish cut in half in the holding tank of the trailer They took the cap off from the holding tank and out poured the mutilated fish After filling and draining the tank several times they obtained a total of 54 trout counting tails or heads Mr Alverson was charged on two counts one for over limit and one count of waste Count action is still pending DR And he was off to the Army his duty to do After serving four years with the sound of peace We welcomed back our own Doc Rees Then back to his practice with his family to live To adjust again and his services give With a syringe and needle and aim so square He hits the spot and we all know where Then Riley was born quite a little man And then came Vicky to complete the clan The hospital grew and the patients increased Another doctor called in sometimes by our Doc Rees Then there's the enthusiast with tiger in his tank Who’s been a big booster and known as Frank Along about now luck was in our behalf When Doctor Stewart joined our hospital staff The need for a Senator was next in the plan And Doc Rees was called to be the man So off to legislature to speak his piece We again part with our own Doc Rees But tragedy struck the home one day Our wonderful friend Ford was called away We all miss her much But Doc Rees was brave And he fought steadily onward other lives to save The efficient little nurses Natasha and LaNiece Stand faithfully by our own Doc Rees As years went by and Doc needed a wife A little gal named Bee buzzed into his life May the coming years bring happiness and peace To the new little wife and our own Doc Reesl ' I by Margaret K Welser Jensen and 1910 the Jews settled in Clarion a place on the west side of Gunnison They all moved away but one family they moved to Gunnison in the northwest part Alfred Lund and Leonard Sorensen and families were the only ones living in Clarion in 1911 until Sam Weiser and That was family moved in 1911 Mrs Weiser January cooked for some men that stayed in the Jews' One fellow's name was Een Roper and another Lot and some more but don't remember the names They were working on a canal called the State Canal There were only four houses including the schoolhouse has the place where Weisers lived Later Winegars In 1909 and Paces (two families of Paces) moved in and made the schoolhouse their home until they built one Later Bridgers Keelers and Parkers came Weiser Lund Sorensen Parkers Kellers Bridgers and two families of Paces and Winegars bought a thrasher It was run by horse power Most of the families moved Then Frandsen and away Jensen came Soon more came and went It is a thriving place now The children went to Gunnison to school Some of the folks took them in with supplies On Friday after school you would see a group of children walking three miles home Later they had a school bus Water for household use was taken from the flowing wells This is 1976 Things look a lot different than in 1911 They have a sprinkling system to water with Scenes of yesterday!! mva vj ?
