Handshake 1:30 Will Hold Outing Hundreds of Utah County Democrats and their friends are expected to gather in Payson Saturday even-i- g for the second big party outing with Democrats of the South end of the county entertaining the group. Arrangements for the first gathering held in July were made by Northern Utah County Democrats. Thomas E. Reece of Payson and Rex Daniels of Spanish Fork are in charge of the outing. Emmett Bird of Springville is chairman of the program committee. The activities will start at 7 p. m. in the Payson Park and a big melon bust will be one of the features. Following the program a dance will be held at Edgewater on Lake Salem. During the afternoon the Womens Democratic Council of Utah County will hold a meeting at the home of Mrs. Della Iluish on North Main St. Mrs. Frank W. After an interesting program, Avard Fairbanks of Ann Arbor, Michigan, gave a talk on Art and exhibited some of his work. He told of the painting and sculpture in the L. D. Burnis XVightman, one of Paysons most well known and promising young men was killed and four other Pay-so- n hoys were injured at 7:30 evening when their automobile left the road and plunged into a deep dry storm ditch a mile east of Eureka. Burnis was hurled from the automobile and pinned under it suffering a fractured skull from which he died 15 minutes later in the office of Dr. XX'. A. Robinson in Eureka where all of the injured youths were taken by XVed-nesd- passing motorists. Don Cl o ward, driver of the car suffered a deep gash on his left arm which severed the cords, his hip was wrenched and he wras badly bruised. Keith Shuler had a badly cut knee and other bruises and cuts; Loren Houston suffered broken ribs and Elbert Gardner was cut and bruised. Burnis Wightman was born at Pay-soAugust 24, 1913, a son of Philo C. and Tabitha Wright XVightman. He was graduated from the Payson high school in 1932 and has attended the Brigham Young University for the past two years. Possessing a splendid bass voice he sang frequently in public, as a soloist and as a member of the Fourth ward male quartette and in chorus work. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4 p. m. in the Nebo Stake Tabernacle with Bishop George A. Cheever of the Fourth ward in charge.
