A Christmas tree entertainment in the First ward will be held Satuday at 3 p. m. wih a fine program and a treat for the children, sponsored by the Sunday School. A pageant in the new chapel will be presented Sunday morning. A program at the Sunday School and a song service in the evening by the new ward choir directed by C. O. Nelson is planned in the Second ward. The annaul Christmas tree entertainment for all members of the Third ward is to be held on Christmas eve. It is being sponsored by all of the auxiliary organizations in the ward. A special program Christmas tree and treat for the children has been arranged by the Fourth ward Sunday School for Sunday morning. The unique feature is a huge Santa Claus standing at attention by the tree. The figure is more than eight feet high and weighs 500 pounds. School Workers Attend Regional The annual conference of the Parson First ward was held Sunday evening and was the most important event to the members since the division of the old first ward just eight years ago. The services were conducted in the beautiful new chapel just completed and used for the first time. Bishop Otto B. Erlandson, who has so diligently carried n the building activities, was in charge of the meeting. Stake officers in attendance were Lee It. Taylor and Ariza C. Page of the presidency; J. A. Loveless, stake clerk; Will Madsen, Asa L. Curtis, Sid Coray and Roland Lindsay of the high council. Short talks were given by President Taylor and President Page, Bishop Erlandson, E. II. Street of the bishopric, Joseph W. Bates, Thomas Iluish John Done Mrs. Kathryn Betts Lois Noon, Clark Elmer, Mrs. Emma Wilson and Sid Coray. The invocation was by Will Madsen and the benediction by Asa L. Curtis. Selections were rendered by the new ward choir with Mrs. Mary Wyler as conductor and Miss Faye White, organist. Vocal solos were rendered by Verl Patten and Miss Elva Francom accompanied by Miss RomaBrimha!l and a quartette by Verl Patten, Clark Elmer, Bale Peery and Marian Elmer. A special Christmas program will be given next Sunday evening when the new ward orchestra will appear with Albert McClellan as director. Members of the Payson first ward will be guests. Announcement was made that the chapel will be dedicated early in January on a date to be arranged by the Church Authorities. Conference Superintendent Melvin Wilson, Supervisor Louis A. Bates, Principal John C. Carlisle and Mr. Eugene Hillman were in Provo Saturday to attend a regional conference of the Utah Education Association of five school districts in Utah, Wasatch and Juab counties. More than 100 school workers were in attendance and they passed a resolution favoring th appointment of the state superintendent of schools on the basis of merit and ability rather than elected. Speakers wore Dr. E. E. Erickson of the University of Utah and Dr. Amos N. Merrill of the B. Y. U. Departmental work followed the general session.
