autumn chill Rights has a with its colored leaves-ancharm of its own winter is memorable for its is season time— the Top of there a but holiday the Summer— when nature pauses in perfect stillness after the vigorous affort of a spring time and is quiet scarcely drawing a breath while the full barley heads just turning the first tinge of yellow droop heavily under the sun and seem to know that yesterday was spring and tomorrow will be autumn and today is the Top of the Summer and when the observer gets that feeling that today is and never will be again so strongly that it remains for days in the memory in fact is never forgotten Some time this week each of us has seen or will see the Top of the Summer if we are fortun ate enough to be watching at just the right time It is worth watching for ROBERT ANGLESEY— PIONEER We are indebted to our friend Mr James Bowcutt for information regarding the life of one of those pioneers the like of whom become fewer and fewer with each passing year Robert Anglesey was the type which has made the west a land of home builders Our readers will find the following sketch of interest We are grateful for the interest that prompted Mr Bowcutt to furnish it “Another pioneer of Box Elder County has passed away Old residents of the county remember Robert Anglesey who came here with his parents in the early days emigrating from England and making the plains trip by ox team The family settled in Call’s Fort and made their home there when this section was a frontier In common with all others these pioneers set to to make a commonwealth out of a wilderness In the spring of 1876 he was called to go to Arizona to help open up for settlement that territory making repeated tripe back and forth for supplies and tools for the little colony After his release from this laboj he returned to the old home where he married Mary Bowcutt later moving his family to LaBelle Idaho then a frontier Again he participated in redeeming a desert and like the illustious pioneer said "This Is the place” From a quarter section of wild sage and timber land he began his task and succeeded in making a home for his family Now at the close of a useful life his children in the farm and four sons all living at LaBelle were able on a few moments notice to be present at the passing of this good man At the services which were 31000 At It Qtlctfo cndy industry hw a $850000000 J important finitely greater importance is the fact that in i'Vthe’automobile claimed about 31000 lives Every year hundreds of thousands of new automobiles throng the highways Utilization of the on the increase average car is continually Traffic congestion grows more severe Speed ‘ ranges use It has been stated that the greatest single accident prevention need is a driver’s licensing law So far 17 states have passed such ordinances In the other 31 persons are allowed to vehicles on public roads operate irrespective of their competency thus endanger- ing all motorists and pedestrians It is too late to save the 31000 lives that were lost last year and the 28000 the year before We cannot replace the wasted $850000-00- 0 But the success of 17 states indicates that we can halt the rising death and injury toll caused by reckless and incompetent drivers APPLY THE MONTAGUE THE UNCERTAINTY IS OVER There is this to be said of the new tariff bill: It haa ended the uncertainty which was a real factor in the business depression ll The arguing infc ahd are over and American business can go back to work knowing exactly what tariff duties are to be and to what degree they will affect production and competition in the domestic and foreign markets fO Industry through the laboratory sad the claw room Re Is a Fellow of the American AaeodaUon far the
