Pie Baking Contest Contest Date: Saturday August 9A Mystery Cookoff Date: Saturday Aug 9 2008 Registration time 9:00 am Coals can be started at 9:00 am This is a two-pevent and all you have to bring is your Dutch Ovens and charcoal Everything else will be provided and you will have to come up with a main dish and dessert Recipes and recipe books are allowed however you will not be required to give a copy to the judges The as meat selected this year is pork there is limited space for this contest CASH PRIZES! 2008 :30am Location: Millard County Fair Building Kitchen Area :00-- 1 :30am Registration: NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED! 1 Prepare your favorite pie recipe 2 Entries may be either one or two crust pies such as Apple Lemon Meringue Chocolate Banana Cream etc 3 All entries must be from scratch No store box mixes allowed No cookie or graham cracker crusts allowed 4 Pies will be judged on crust and filling appearance taste texture and ease of preparation 5 All entries must be accompanied by two (2) copies of the recipe Every Ingredient must be listed and exact measurements used Use standard measurements of cups teaspoons etc All preparation steps temperatures and cooking instructions must be specified 6 Open to Millard County Residents ONLY!!! Prizes for each Contest is as follows: - Place - $5000 2 Place $3000 3" Place - $2000 This years we would like to hold all contests on one day Saturday We would like to have the Mystery held in the morning from 9 am to noon and the Three Pot and One Pot held in the afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm We will be judging a bit differently than we have in the past We will have separate people for field judging and taste judging Each contest will have two field judges who score on Dutch Oven technique cleanliness and proper food handling After the food is cooked it will be presented to the tasting judges who will score on appearance and flavor The two scores for each team will be tallied and the high score wins One Pot Cookoff Date: Saturday Aug 9 2008 Registration time 2:00 am Judging 5:00 pm Coals can be started at 2:00 am Cook a dessert of your choice 2 Contestants must cook in a Dutch Oven using charcoal Three Pot Cookoff Date: Saturday Aug 9 2008 Registration time 2:00 am Coals can be started at 2:00 am Cook a main dish a bread and a dessert dish 2 Contestants must cook in a Dutch Oven using charcoal 3 Judging will be as follows: 4:00 pm all will be brought to the judging table After the desserts have been scored the breads will be brought (approximately 4:30 pm) At 5:00 pm the main dish will be brought to the judging table and scored Each team’s scores will be tallied and the highest combined score wins CASH PRIZES! Entry Requirements There will be an entry fee this year of $ 000 contest and $500 for the 1 pot contest per $ 5 if you enter Mystery and Three Pot The prizes will be cash prizes from the entry fees The more people who enter the better the prizes!
