Show Named Clubwoman of the Year Fillmore City C Library News Rv Heather The Fast Millard Fine Arts Guild honored Marlene Whicker as their Clubwoman of the Year at the General Confederation of Women's Clubs State Conference which was held May 4fh and 5th in Brigham Jr'' City Alu id Cdhotm known as Family Fun Night of the Book Day of the Child was a fun filled evening fot all who participated There were five different craft p'oieits beautiful Mexican dancers and a clown who gae out smiles and balloons There were free books for children and a free hook bag given to families Children could make their own tortilla jump in the jumping house watch the jugglers plus lisien to a captivating story as atts a professional sloey Nannetle B teller spun it into life We'd like to thank all of the library hoajd members ho supported us and helped w ith the craft Ana Ancala and her Mexican dancers Sam Holly and Noah Kcrshismk who were cnir jugglers and Michelle Mic kelson as Slappy McFee the clown Preschool Story Hour is on Thursday s at 10 00 a m Please bnng in your preschooler fit a half hour of hook s and fun The last Preschool story hour will be Thursday May 24th Day FREE Pressure Canner Gauge Testing East Millard Fine CSC Extension Service is effcrrrg free testing of pressure aaner gauges in Delta and Fillmore For your lids with d al gauges may be dropped of earlier m the eek and picked up later in the day be May Testing m Delta of! ice 18 from 10 am 4pm Call bH4- Arts Guild The Fast Millard Fine Arts Guild will bole their dosing social District convention on Thursday May 10 2007 at 4 pm at the Fillmore First Fourth Ward ?i0 South 0 Fast Please RSYP Edna McBnde 743- 4fci MG Testing May 22 in from Fillmore office will be 10 am - 4 pm Cal Luncheon will Warner Catering coming ear 4 served by Dues for the be Mrs Whicker is a past president of the East Millard Fine Afts Guild and for the past 3 years has filled the office of Community Improvement Project Chairman This is an ongoing program which lasts 2 years each time The project which has been the Guild’s project is the New Horizons Crisis Center in Richfield The center houses not only abused individuals but also pros ides short term housing for the homeless in the Six County Area The Last Millard Fine Arts Guild Community Improvement program placed first at the conference last year and is hoping to achieve this honor next year also Guild members have donation clothing money items for hygiene kits and supplies for quilts for the Crisis Center A food drive is held once a year and members May belle goods bring canned Hansen enjoys making quilts for the center and the Guild members are generous in bringing fabric yams and cash to help Mrs Hansen make clubs also her quilts The local tie several quilts each year to present to the Crisis Center and this winter a drive for warm clothing and food was held at Duanes this project was initiated by some young people who saw a need and acted on it 5 trucks and cars loaded with food and clothing was taken to Richfield It may be well to mention that the New Horizons Crisis Center takes people from the Six County Area which cludes Millard County this is why our Guild has been so supportive quilt camps helping young women learn the basics of sewing and piecing quilts She also in involved in two fund raising projects for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation A cancer survivor herself Mrs Whicker also lost her youngest sister to cancer and is determined to help raise funds for cancer research Mrs Whicker is very involved with the Memory Lane Christmas Project which is growing each year the proceeds of which go to The Huntsman Cancer Foundation Another project which she is involved with is the Ride for Life A!
