Dinkel has been found guilty of two class B misdemeanors of possession of a controlled substance and driving with a measurable amount of controlled substance A $1500 bench warrant was issued Casey L Bowen 28 appeared for waiver hearing Bowen is charged with one first degree felony distribution of a controlled substance Judge Lyre instructed the prosecution to give the evidence of this charge to the defense The matter was continued for waiver hearing on Aug 30 Thomas Gene Dorholl did not appear for review hearing Defense Attorney James Slavens told the court that a written statement in advance of plea would be presented to the court Dorholl admitted to one class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct and one class C misdemeanor attempted theft The fine for the offense will be deducted from the bail that Dorholt had posted and the balance will be turned to Dorholt Justin Lee Fothenngham 22 appeared in custody for waiver of extradition Fothenngham is charged with numerous felony counts in another state The court ordered that 30 days prior to his final 30 days to be served an order would be sent to California to pick him up from the Millard County Jail Shannon Rena Smith 33 appeared and pleaded guilty to an amended charge of one third degree felony possession with intent to disFactual tribute methamphetamine basis was presented to the court by Deputy County Attorney Pat Millard County Fmlinson On Aug Deputy Colby Carter pulled over Smith for an expired registration When asking for identification Carter observed two bags of methamphetamine Smith was arrested and two other bags were discovered Judge Lyre referred the matter to Adult Parole and Probation to fill out a pre sentence packed and interview for the pre sentence report After meeting with APAP Smith was released on her own recognizance Sentencing was set for September 30 Ace Wilder Curry 20 appeared before the court and pleaded guilty to two third degree felony charges of burglary of a building with tent to damage deface and destroy property On August 10 it was reported to the Millard County Sheriff that bullet holes and a broken been discovered on property of Utah Department of Transportation Factual basis showed that Deputy Turner had investigated the incident and apprehended the suspect at the home of a friend Footprints taken at the scene matched with Curry two men had also seen him The matter was referred to APAP for a pre sentence report Upon completion of the report and interview Curry was released on his own recognizance Sentencing was set for September 30 Seaborn Randolph Mack 46 appeared and w aiv ed his right to prel hearing Mack pleaded guilty to two first degree felony charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child The court referred he case to APdLP for a pre sentence report and ordered Mack to undergo a psycho sexual evaluation Fie will be sentenced on Oct 23 Jesus Juan Mayoral Jimenez 43 appeared and waived his right to a preliminary hearing Jimenez pleaded no contest to one first degree ony rape and one second degree ony forcible sex abuse of a minor The court referred the case to AP&P for a pre sentence report and ordered Jimenez to undergo a psycho 36 peared for sanctions of an order to show cause O'Neal has been found guilty of violating the terms of probation She is currently on probation for one third degree felony posThe session ot Poll comments questions were raised concerning the Central Utah Narcotics Task Force Following are the anew ers giv en in a recent inters lew w ith Sheriff Robert Dekker Commander Cordell Pearson and Lieutenant Jeff hatcott The Task Force is financed by five entities Millard Sevier Sanpete Pjmte and Wayne Counties and seven municipalities They are the police departments in Richfield Salina Gunnison Mt Pleasant I phraim Snow College and Moroni Robert Dekker Millard County Sheriff and Commander Cordell Pearson head the task force The task force is answerable to the primary entity (Millard County Sheriff) and the Task Force Board of Directors The board of directors consist of a member from each entity and one from the Highway Patrol and one from Adult Parole and Probation Pearson is in Commander charge of day to day operations He decides which officer is assigned to which case Pearson reports to Sheriff Dekker but works independent of the Sheriff's Office The Board of Directors is made The committee up of 15 people meets bi monthly and Pearson reports at each meeting He reports the number ot cases the task force is working cm and the ty pes of cases The budget needs and requests are discussed at each meeting Lach member of each entity talks with Pearson and gives input as to where the resources of the taskforce can best be utilized Task Force policy is set by the lead agency The task lores- recently moved their office to the Millard County Sheriff's Office in illmore therefore policy and procedures are s the same as Millard ( ounty Sheri Office There have been no new new hires to the taskforce within the last six years Lach ot the Mierilf Otiicc-that have an officer assigned to the taskforce are paid from that Sheriff s Office budget f here are three emplov ees paid by the taskforce ith monies from Sevier County Richfield ( its and J (i (Justice Assistance Grunt) The grant has given the Iu'ktorce $70000 a year for the past two years The remaining monies it takes to run the operation is paid for by the enti ties within I ach entity's budget that goes toward the Task Force is euleu lated by the ratio ot sworn officers ithin their departments As for whether or not the lack Force get points for each area and conviction the answer was a BIG NO Different kinds ot informants are used by the task force 1 hey citizens paid informants and other defendants that sometimes have pending charges According to hatcott Dekker Pearson and hes! informants are those that do not have a criminal record On occasion someone who has pending charges may have the charges amended to a lesser charge but only after they have completed the agreement A negotiation process between the task force the officer involved with the original arrest and the County
