One of the dispatchers answers the phone “91 Cal lie" She is one of several Millard County Sheriff s Dispatchers Callie Peterson age 21 is a graduate from Delta High School whose ultimate goal s to become a registered nurse In her senior yea’ of high school she took a step tow ads her goal and became a Certified Nurses Assistant Subsequent schooling in musing at Provo College got her the Mounopportunity to work at Payson tain View Hospital American Fork Hospital and Utah Valley in Provo She plans on furthering her nursing education by enrolling m the k cber State nursing program Settling in Hinckley w ith her husband she applied for a dispatchers position Peterson said her nursing experience got her in the door and her three months of training w ith experienced dispatchers got her the job She said the training and experience enables her to handle any emergency situations and 91 calls Weekends and sw ing shifts are the biggest challenge for a dispatcher She said more people are on the move and alcohol related problems tend upward Interstate 5 accidents are covered by the highway patrol out of Cedar City but she dispatches the medical units and fire engines When the dispatcher becomes over loaded with work an officer from the jail will assist Peterson said she feels confident using the by A roo rpyf r k I tl Dear Hunter’s Commemorative Ball Billy Van Dance Hall at the On Saturday night Oct 3 starting at 8 p m the Great Basin Museum and Historical Society will again its program season by sponsoring a special “Commemorative Deer Hunter's Ball" at the historic and now mostly restored Billy Van Dance Hall The restoration of this beloved old hall has been underway for over two years Don’t miss this special opportunity to enjoy the feelings and the surroundings of those who danced in this hall some sixty years ago w hen our county was fighting World War II Music for this special evening will again be prov ided by the “Oak City Moonlighters Orchestra" and will feature both old and new dance numbers For many years this hall was the center of dancing entertainment for most of the cities and towns in central Utah and most years was crowed to overflowing for the annual Deer Hunter's Ball We invite all to come and enjoy some fond memories of those long past years As is the case of all Museum programs admission to this dance program is free However funds are still needed to further the restoration of the dance hall and a new historical restoration project is now underway in the building under the dance hall and a new historical restoration project is now underway in the building under the dance hall to recreate and old time “Store Front" with exhibits that can be seen from the street In order to help in these restoration projects w hich will require thousands of dollars a donation box will be available the night of the dance with a suggested donation of $2 per person Those who can donate that amount (or more) will be greatly appreciated Light refreshments will be served throughout the evening Don't miss this Deer special and Commemorative Hunter's Ball!
