taken into custody at the Greyhound Bus Station (Caleb's Cafe) in Fillmore by Deputy Steve O Camb and Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Tom Schneiter O’Camb had responded to a report of a runaway juvenile from the Paradise Motel The girl had run away from her foster parents and was going to catch the bus to leave town This was her 3th foster home and she is a ward of the state She was transported to the Slate Canyon Juvenile Detention Facility in Provo to be held pending placement in a new foster home 00 pm A male juvenile was arrested in Delta by Deputy Morris Burton Burton had responded to the Diamond D Motel on an assault call The juvenile was transported to the substation in Delta where he was referred to 4th District Juvenile Court for Class B misd assault He was then released to the request of his father II 55 p m Atina Mane W ingo 26 Fillmore was arrested in Fillmore by Trooper Gordon Mortensen and Deputy Devon Quamberg Wingo was driving a white 1983 Audi when she was stopped for an equipment violation Upon contact Mortensen suspected alcohol impairment and had Wingo perform field sobriety tests She was transported to jail and charged into Fillmore City Justice Court with Class B misd DUI Alcohol She appeared the following day in front of Judge Ron Hare and pled no contest to the charge She was jail sentence All but 48 hours of the given a fine and a jail lime was suspended and she was put on a no alcohol probation for one year She was released and must return to serve the remaining jail time Tuesday August 8th 9 58 a m Robin Thomas Brown Jr 20 Las Vegas NV was arrested at mp 163 on by Trooper Dean Shields Brown was driving a black 1994 Toyota Camry when he was stopped for an equipment violation A check revealed that his drivers license was suspended He was transported to jail and charged into EMJC with Class C misd driving on suspension and an equipment violation He pled guilty to the charges and as released with a fine Wednesday August 9th 4 30 a m Dustin M W ishka 19 Palmdale CA was arrested at mi 161 southbound by Deputy Rhett Kimball Kimball had been dispatched to a reported gas theft of S 5 52 from the Budget Stop Texaco at the north Fillmore Interchange Kimball stopped the blue 1976 American Hornet and contacted the Wishka A record check showed that his license was suspended and he admitted to not having enough moniy to pay for the gas He was transported to jail and charged into EMJC with Class B nnsd theft and lass C misd driving on suspension He pled guilty before Judge Hare and was given a 30-- day jail sentence suspended when he paid the SI 5 52 restitution He was then released Friday August 11th 4 15am 911 dispatch received report of an injury accident at mp 193 on Deputy Devon Quamberg and Troopers Tom Schneiter and Sgt Steve Esplin all sponded as well as the Fillmore fire rescue truck and Scipio Ambulance A 1989 Ford St George drifted into the freeway of Ranger driven by 24 year old Larry Wayne Laney median He attempted to steer back onto the roadway that turn and the subsequent overcorrection caused the vehicle to skid out of control and roll over a number of times coming to rest on its wheels on the shoulder of the road Schneiter said that Laney was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected some distance from the vehicle As a result of the crash and ejection Laney sustained fatal injuries to the Dean Shields and the Fillmore firercscuc truck as well as East Millard Ambulance O’Camb rived on the scene to find that a silver minivan had rolled off the freeway and onto the frontage road Two additional ambulances were dispatched to the scene and all three were filled up with the six people that were in the van O'Camb said that one male was ejected during one of the rolls and suffered a broken hip All five of the other occupants remained inside the van as it rolled approx four times finally coming to rest on its side One man was trapped inside the van so the rescue team used extrication equipment to cut the roof off and remove him All six victims were transported to Fillmore Hospital Two were then transported by “Life Flight" helicopter and another by ambulance to various driving recklessly The officers stopped the vehicle as it exited at the Fillmore South Interchange Jordon was arrested after being W hen the inters tewed by the officers He was transported to jail on closure affects the mountains between It includes Maple Hollow Maple Grove and the and SR50 southeast of Scipio surrounding areas Besides fire personnel only land and cattle owners are allowed into the area to protect the property or livestock The area is closed to everyone else and could possibly affect the approaching hunting seasons The closure w ill remain in effect until further notice
