Quality district Award for 1998 by Verdene Egelston scout ecutive Special remarks concluded the ev ening by guest Ron Nyman who is the field services director for the L'tah National Parks Council He talked about the portance of w hether it be good character or bad character We need to be an ample of good character and by doing so w e help outh to dev elop good character He gave a definition sing in this choir is w elcome to do so Choir practice w ill be each Sunday evening in February at the Delta lst2nd Ward at 5 pm and at the Flowell Ward at 8 pm Among other numbers the choir will be learning "This is the Christ" which has lyrics written by President Faust This should be a very special and citing conference to attend and all Millard County residents whether or not they are members Three A delicious dinner of roast beef and baked potatoes with pie and ice cream was prepared and sersed by Fillmore Fourth ward Special adult recognition w as giv en to swen scout leaders who have contributed many hours of service to youth through the BSA program for youth as well as other areas in their lives The District Award of Merit awards for 1999 w ere giv en to Gary S Barber of Fillmore and Dean Larsen of Holden Second Miler Award were given to Evely n Monroe of Vickie Warner of Fillmore Kathy Scipio Farmer of Holden Douglas Jolley of Fillmore and Thayne Christensen of Kanosh The Whitaker President Millard Fillmore Library 25 South By Tawnia Gentry Library Director Wow What a party we had at the brary with "Arthur" If you happened to drive past the brary last Tuesday afternoon and thought you were seeing the walls bulge you were right The response to our "Read with Arthur" program was a wonderful success We had over 250 children and mom's come to the library to celebrate Arthur We want to thank all that helped in any way at all and a special thanks to some great helpers First of all we want to thank our Library Board members who were great support and worked so hard for us at the party We would also like to send out a note of thanks to Anna and Kcndra Winget Kenzie and Sierra Lundberg Jimmy and Danny Ayers These are children of board and they were priceless £ help We even had some kids from Delta come over w ith their parents to see Arthur and they want to do something similar for all the kids in Delta This is a great program to encourage children to read and we recommend it to all communities The party was a great one thanks to 100 West Fillmore Utah ' Tawnia She worked so hard and is so creative w hen it comes to thinking up fun things to do She really is great for the Library and for Fillmore One more thanks and that is to the new Maverick Station and Coke Between the two of them they donated 6 cases of soda pop enough for the whole party That sure helped when it came to paying the bills Thanks to everyone who took part in any way it was a great success We are w orking on some new programs and they too are going to be wonderful We are applying for a grant that if ceived will add a new dimension tq our library shelves We will share more on that later when we have word about the grant We want to encourage you to bring in your
