Show Page 8 October 27 1994 Millard County Chronicle Progress Delta South Elementary news Counseling Corner Scholarships Delta South Elementary's winners in the Red Ribbon Week poster contest show their smiles and their winning posters Red Ribbon Week Red Rihhon Week was very busy for Delta South Elementary students as ready for Mr LaDamas and Mr MeLaughlin to fly over On Monday everyone the school and take a picture of all of the students on the playground dressed in red or purple to signify say ing no lodrugs but the veealher didn't cixrpcrate It will be done next week On Tuesday a numbered Red Ribbon was handed toeaeh student to be worn each da Numbers were draw n each day and if the students had their nbbon on they won a prize The students saw a skit by the Esteem Team and were taught some cheers by DUS Cheerleaders It was great fun Wednesday was very busy In a presentation by MeCruff the students were told to solve disagreements in a way and also how to find a “McGruff Safe House" We also made handprints and signed our pledge to say “No" to drugs On Thursday every student drew a picture of “Being Drug Free” This was a contest and the winners were: Mackenzie Heman Preschool Anna Peterson Kindergarten Sara Cull st grade Holly Bunker 2nd grade Laura Nielson 3rd grade Nick Killpack 4th grade Misty Dewsnup 5th grade On Friday we were all taught by our teachers ways to help us say “No” to drugs and be drug free A bixiklcl prepared by the US Department of Education was given to each family to help parents This was a busy week but it is a very important part of drug prevention A special thanks to Mrs Betty Ann Degraw and Mrs Joy Jeffery for helping set up all of these great activities Scholarship - Open to senior students that have been involved in school activities community service and have been employed Application deadline is October 31 1994 Tylenol Scholarship - This scholarship is open to senior students who have been involved in extracurricular activities community service and have leadership skills Deadline for application is November 15 1994 Century III Leadership Scholarship Program - Open to senior students who have good leadership skills school and community involvement and are interested in writing a projection for innovative leadership Deadline is November 21 1994 Farmer’s Foundation Scholarship This scholarship is open to senior students whose parent’s income is two thirds or more from a farming source Deadline is November 11 1994 Programs and Announcements United States Senate Youth Program - We would like to congratulate Cami Hansen a junior at Delta High School for being chosen as the Delta High School Representative Cami participated in the competition at the Stale Capitol on October 20 She has the opportunity of being chosen to go to Washington DC Cami is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Rodney Hansen of Delta She is active in speech and debate Youth City Council FHA and many community and church activities Congratulations Cami and good luck!
