The Delta Little League and Delta High School played water polo Saturday October 9 at the Delta pool Teams from Cedar City Viewmont High School and Park City were here This is the first year in Delta for girls and boys little league water polo and also the first year for girls high school water polo The Delta High School boys team is doing quite well thank you very much More on that later At this tournament there were four divisions Delta's little league teams did well However they were a mixture of kids from the 4th through 8th grade while the other teams were mostly 7th & 8th graders with some 9th graders thrown in Most all of the Park City girls team were twice the size of Delta’s mighty-mKristen Anstead However our girls all played very well They lost to Park and Cedar City and were City for their division Our two boys little league teams were evenly divided with boys from the 4th through 8th grade That was not the situation for the Park City and Cedar these boys City teams played well Had the older boys played as a separate team there is no doubt that the results would have been different and Delta 2 was Delta was Not bad for playing against 8th and 9th graders The Delta High School girls were also playing for the first time They played games against experienced teams from Cedar City and Viewmont high schools Even though they lost both against Viewmont and games against Cedar City the Viewmont coach said our girls were the best first year team she has seen The Delta High School boys were also divided into two teams with about equal numbers of varsity and JV The only other team here was Cedar City’s varsity team The St George’s teams dropped out at the last minute Cedar won both games against our mixed and teams against Delta against Delta 2 This set up a game with just Delta and Cedar City varsity Here the score was much different It is always more difficult to score against the shallow end of the pool because the goalie can stand on the bottom This we had to do the first The final score was quarter and lead This we were able to do using first string varsity for half the game and second string varsity the remainder It was a very good beginning for little league water polo in Delta J V I Millard County Recreation is now organizing a 994 Jr Jazz Boys Basketball League Registration will be from October 7 through October 22 1993 from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday at the Millard County Recreation Offices at 81 South Manzanita Ave Delta The fee will be $15 per player with an additional $3 if shirt is needed There will be two grades All particigrades and pants will receive a ticket to a Jazz game All information and registration materials can be picked up at the Recreation Office For more information call inn-- Mistake corrected There was an error reported in the Girl’s Division 3 Soccer Tournament news last week 1st place winners were Amber McinhardtTasha Bettis Dayna Lebbon and Heidi Panhorst coached by Bob Meinhardt Second Race winners were Emily May Lindsey Little Jennc Taylor and Chrissy Spong coached by John May We are sorry about the error Mistake A mistake in the waterfowl proclamation lists legal shooting hours improperly On Page 9 Zone One hours indicate the time change from DST to MST begins on October 24 In fact the change occurs on October 31 at 2 am exactly one week later That means the times from October 24 through October 30 should be read as one hour later for example October 24 shooting hours are 7:19 am to 6:35 pm instead of 6:19 am to 5:35 pm The error is not viewed as a big problem since legal shooting hours are defined as hour before sunrise to sunset under section ”E" of the proclamation also on page 9 Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers will be issuing citations for violations of legal shooting hours on those days abbiHoflh EAST MILLARD SWIMMING POOL NEWS October is our Family Pass Discount month We are going to try something new hour earlier each night From
