years Fair chairmen interviewed by Rita Robinson This month I interviewed Fay Howell Chairperson for Foods and and Beulah Rowley who is Chairperson for Senior Citizens Day at the Fair this year and also works in the office part of it Both are super talented women Fay Howell has been Chairperson for the Foods Division for the last 10 years but combined together with her assistants who are Stella Nayon Arprilla and Myrtle they have close to 30 years experience among them which means judging expertise and assured fairness to the entries of this division Fay has been head of Foods Division for 10 years having been appointed by Margene Rowley but she has been volved with the Fair a lot more years than that She started back when the Days of the Old West Rodeo was held in Deseret She worked the concession stands then helping the church ward collect all the entries for the fair through the years so many she says she's forgotten Volunteering giving freely of her time is nothing new for Fay Always happy to help someone or some cause Fay has helped with the blood drives for at least 20 yean and has been working at the Deseret Industries f ’rover 10 yean With Fay being such an organized fun up person and knowledgeable in the field of bottled foods and baking she was and is a natural to head Foods Fay enjoys working for the Fair getting out and meeting so many of her old and new friends She encourages everyone to bring in their bottlr i and baked goods Here are arew rules and regulations Baked Division: Enter between 10 am and 4 pm thoroughly cooled and wrapped in waxed paper pi ace on paper plate DO NOT ice or frost if so they will be judged as decorated items Food Preservation: Any fruit canned after the fair last year can be entered must be entered only in standard jars Mission His interesting report wu given at the Delta Utah Stake Center on Sunday June 20 Ryan is the oldest son of Don and Lynda Ashcraft of Delta Utah I interviewed Beulah Rowley knowing she worked behind the scenes for the Millard County Fair but not realizing that this super woman has been involved with the fair for a lot of years and is a Beulah started volunteering her help since the Days of the Old West Rodeo back in 1937 She worked the concession stands This was when the church wards were given the job of the concessions Beulah has been involved with the for over 30 years She taught home improvement cooking gardening sewing and safety It was a very happy day for her when Millard County Fair incorinto the Fair AD her porated and now have been active in in she has her grandchildren Grandma's Gardening Chib So with the being part of the Fair and with her talent for organizing she was asked to assist in several divisions Beulah was Chairperson for the Home Arts Division for 3 years She really enjoyed this division because she says she learned so much listening to the judges She enjoys people being with them and when they bring something to be entered at the Fair it’s like bringing out the best in people Beulah is also a judge for other fairs She is now in the office part of it which is giving out the premium monies and checking in articles brought in for the Fair This year Beulah has been asked by the board to be chairperson and coordinator for the activities of Senior Cillzms on Thursday August 12 at the Fair Beulah has a lot of fun activities liner up for that day but she also asks that ii any of you readers have any suggestions to contact her at As always it’s a pleasure interviewing people for the Fair because the calibre of people the board seeks and use as division heads for the Millard County fair are top qualified and the experienced level of these people speak for itself And that’s “Something to Crow About" Story hour is going strong!
