Commissioner Dearden was given a copy of a letter to the Big Game Control Board from the Millard County Land OwncrWildlife Committee by Abner Johnson This is a letter of support of the "Pahvant Elk Management Plan" dated April 1993 It is stating that the Millard County Commission and State Representative Mike Styler are also in support of the Plan - Commissioner Moon had spoken to Commissioner Dearden stating that she received a call from Sunrise Engineering about a problem with the Kanosh Road The Commissioners will check out the problem - Commissioner Dearden reported on the Economic Development meeting that was held last week - Commissioner Baker reported that there are a few problems that need to be addressed at the extended care facility in Delta - Robyn Pearson stated that a used Sedan will be purchased to replace the brown Suburban for a pool car at the Delta Office Commissioner Baker read the following letter to those present from the State of Utah Office of the Slate Auditor: Dear Commissioners: We have reviewed the budget submitted by Millard County for the fiscal 1993 through December year January 311 993 Our review was made to verify substantial compliance with Utah Code 1933 as amended Section 17 chapter 36 “Uniform Fiscal Procedures Act for Counties” and other applicable State fiscal laws The memorandum budgets for the levy for assessing and collecting property taxes have been review ed separately and a separate letter of review will be issued The budget submitted is in substantial compliance with the Uniform fiscal Procedures Act and Other applicable State fiscal laws We appreciate your dedicated service to your County and the service of your Commission We would encourage you to contact Susan Peterson at 538-362 if you have questions concerning the above comments The letter was signed by MacRay A Curtis CPA Manager Local Government Division - Dennis McLaughlin spoke to the Commissioners about the happenings at the Golf Course They reviewed a list of - - Alumni Banquet Alumni and faculty members friends of the former Millard Academy and Hinckley High School Alumni are invited to attend the annual Alumni Banquet May 8 at 7:00 pm at the Hinckley Ward Cultural Hall Leon Lewis president of the Alumni Association announced that the classes of 1923 1933 1943 and 1953 will be honored Also a distinguished service award will be presented to one former student and one former faculty member The Hinckley institution was founded in 1910 It was converted from a church school to the state school system in 1923 The high school was disbanded in 1953 but continues to draw a crowd from far and near Reservations for the banquet may be made with Anna Lee Hcpworth PO Box 52 Hinckley UT 84635 Alumni Association secretary Other committee members are Sherry Lewis Jay and Jerry Warner 429-6 items that Mr McLaughlin felt needed to be addressed Commissioner Baker stated that he would like to meet with Robyn Pearson Jerry Reagan and Mr McLaughlin to discuss the matters further AUDITOR’S AGENDA: - A special meeting regarding the May Tax Sale will be held at the Western Interstate Regional Conference cm May 11 1993 in Phoenix Arizona Rollins Hudig Hall sent a memo and information regarding a rodeo liability program Copies were given to the Commissioners LeRay Attorney Jackson and Robyn Pearson - The Commissioners were made aware of several department accounts that were over budget - A Tax Bulletin was received from the Utah State Tax Commission regarding the purchase of gasoline A memo from Attorney LeRay Jackson regarding the centrally assessed property appeals was reviewed It was discussed of the possible position that it may put Millard County in - Jody Gale USU Extension Agent had informed the Commissioners that the US Department of Agriculture has asked Jim Stevens USU Extension Millard County Agent to be sent to Armenia for the purpose of helping with the agriculture program there for six months The Commissioners feel like this will be a great opportunity for Mr Stevens and approve of the assignment The University of Utah will replace Mr Stevens with a trainee until he returns - Considerable discussion was had regarding the Central Utah Project (CUP) A letter was received from the Consolidated Sevier Bridge Reservoir Company The letter read as follows: Dear Commissioners: The DMADC Companies (Della Canal Company Melville Irrigation Company Abraham Irrigation Company Deseret Irrigation Company and Centra Utah Water Company) recommend that Millard County withdraw from the Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD) The letter was signed by Kenneth G Fowles President Delta Canal Company Clyde L Bunker President Melville Irrigation Company Ray Hoelzle President Abraham Irrigation Company Michael Styler President Deseret Irrigation Company Phil Nielson President Central Utah Water Company The dates for the public hearings for fact finding the CUP were set for Monday May 17th 1993 at the Millard High School Auditorium in Fillmore at 7:30 pm and Wednesday May 19 1993 at the Delta High School Auditorium in Delta in 7:30 pm The matter of all elected officials to discuss the Policy & Procedure Manual was tabled It will be on the agenda for May 3 1993 -
