The vote was unanimous Auditor John Hansen discussed w ith the Commissioners the amount of money that will be disbursed among the municipalities within Millard County for Revenue Sharing The Commissioners discussed at length with Auditor Hansen the use of the funds whether it be used for capital improvements or in other areas Attorney LcRay Jackson had copies of the revised Interlocal Agreement for the Commissioners to review The agreement will be relumed to Warren Peterson for a final draft to be made Auditor John Hansen reminded the Commissioners that the checks have been made out to the towns however until the Interlocal Agreements have been signed by the municipalities and Millard County the checks will not be delivered A document was sent from the Utah State Tax Commission to formally adopt the rules under which the IPA lax protest was settled Attorney Jackson and Robyn Pearson reviewed the document with the Commissioners Attorney Jackson added that the document more or less stated that these rules will be adopted until the county shows cause within ten days why they shouldn’t These rules had been previously approved by the Commissioners Robyn Pearson had a letter from Jerry Reagan regarding some deficiencies at the clubhouse He reviewed the A copy of list with the Commissioners the letter will be sent to Dennis McLaughlin at the golf course for his immediately attention A letter was received from the Central Utah District Health Department regarding the policies on Shores Subdivision that were discussed at the Commission Meeting on June 8 1992 The Health Department is requesting office space in Delta for their agency staff it was their understanding that the county would be building on to the county offices in Delta They have been in contact with the Bunker Brothers of Delta they are willing to rent office space but want to negotiate a lease with the health department Summer school students practice Commissioner Brmkerhoff asked that Deputy Clerk Sheri Stephenson reply in a letter stating that the county recommends that the department sign only a lease that there is a possibility of office space with the county in the District Court Facility Last week (July 13 1992) the decision was made to cut back on the basement space After further discussion it was decided that there would not be that much savings to omit the basement space The final decision is to leave the plans as is The addition and remodeling to the present Courthouse budget was dis cussed With the deletion of the basement and flooring seismic the past month school program School district offers a variety of summer school programs By Nicole Sumslon During summer vacation most children can be found playing swimming or climbing trees but for the past eight weeks 300 children were attending summer school in the Delta and Fillmore area “The children were given various and exciting learning interesting said Barbara Nielson opportunities" Director of Special Education program for Millard County School District The District offered five programs which included a migrant program enrichment program special education program paid summer program and a program The migrant program was for students of parents who are employed in agriculturally related work according to Nielson “We have quite a bit of the programs with some overlapping each other kids attending the other programs along with their own” Nielson said “We like doing this because it takes away the racial bias and lets the children work together" In the enrichment program students studied French social studies music and every drama PE computers Thursday went on a field trip Cave and Hansen Planetarium were among the trips “The children were very excited about the program and results of a recent survey indicated that the parents of these children want to continue with this program next year" Nielson said Special Education was for children attending the special education program during the school year who were requested by teacher referral to attend summer school These students received remedial help in academic areas and usually stayed two hours per day The was offered for children ages that required more development before school starts Students who didn’t qualify for special education services and had parents who wanted a longer period of educational instruction were able to attend the paid summer program "Instructors attempted to remediate math or reading deficiencies in order to help the students catch up” Nielson said According to Nielson the summer school is run by the regular summer staff along w ith a few teacher aides and volunteers Andrea Nielsen (a recruiter clerk) came up with the idea of having some of Delta High School's sterling
