this procedure Please if you see or hear the foggers in your vicinky take your children side and out of harms way untint has passed and the fog has dissapted this will take only about five minutes then they can safely play outside again In the past we have had times when the children have actually chased or followed the foggersthis puts them in the direct mist and can be dangerous Every precaution has been taken by the abatement to make mosquito control as safe as If possiblcbut we are dealing with toxic materialso caution must be taken the driver sees children in the yard or street pjn in concert will be the musical group “Jazz Through the Ages" This will be an exciting concert that will trace the development of jazz from 1890 to 1990 through recreation of the key bands and soloists of the various styles By way of exact transcriptions and reconstructed arrangements jazz giants of past ears are brought to life These include the roots of jazz New Orleans parade and dance hall music of Bunk Johnson and George Lewis boogie woogic piano the early Chicago and Dixieland styles and many others Members of the ensemble were chosen from symphony jazz players university jazz instructors and world class instrumentalists who have been featured in international jazz festivals and national festivals In addition to the Saturday night concert Lloyd Miller leader of the band will do a workshop at the Delta High School band room on Friday April 24 at 3:30 pm This is a free workshop designed for high school and middle school band players and their instructors Those continues to grow in the Delta area reports Ron Draper beautification chairm an for the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce At a meeting Friday April 10 the Valley Bank Volunteers presented a program where employees from the bank are spearheading a drive to paint and fix up homes in our area of elderly and others who are unable both physically and financially to do it themselves This program as well as other plans to beautify our area will be discussed at a planning and coordination meeting to be held at the Delta City offices on Thursday April 16 at 7:00 pm Anyone and everyone interested in learning about and becoming involved in area wide improvement and beautification is invited to attend It is hoped that leaders of youth groups civic clubs businesses and church organizations will be in tendance In addition don’t forget the annual spring planned for the North side of Delta on Saturday April 25 and on the South side on Saturday May 2 City crews will be about on both of these days picking up yard and lot debris that residents have placed at the curbside This is a great opportunity for all residents to get rid of the trash that has accumulated over the winter There are many continue to grow See you at the meeting on the April 16 Havemann resigns The Administrative Office of the Courts reluctantly received the resignation of the Court Executive of the Fourth Judicial District Michael R Havemann His duties included the administration of the district and circuit courts in that district Mr Havemann has accepted employment in Las Vegas Nevada as the court administrator with the municipal courts Honorable Ray M Harding presiding judge in the district court staled "Mike has contributed greatly to the management of the district and circuit courts in the Fourth Judicial District and will be deeply missed" Paul W Sheffield has been selected to replace Mr Havemann as the Fourth Judicial District Administrator over the district and circuit courts In announcing the selection Judge Harding stated “I am pleased to get someone of Paul’s experience Mike’s shoes will be difficult to fill but I am confident based upon Paul’s enthusiasm and attention to detail that he will be an asset to our courts" Mr Sheffield will assume his new responsibilities on April 27 1992 |
