AYSO Publicity Director Mason Looking for a few good men women AY SO is looking for a few good men women and some youth to come to the aid of their organization In fact more than lust a few! We want and need more moms and dads to become referees (the more volunteers available the less work for each person to do!) Recruiting and retaining referees is an ongoing challenge in any soccer region and there are several reasons why The time involved is a big factor it lakes training to be a competent ref Also being a ref can mean refereeing a lot of games a week Then there are those unpleasant moments when someone dixtsn’t agree with your calls and not only voices their opinion at the game but at the office church grocery store etc until a referee is afraid to leave home! Or answer the telephone! All this is said in fun but a word of caution is advised for those courageous souls willing to give their time and energy (try running up and down the soccer field a few times!) to learn the game and be there to referee the rest of us better be saying thanks for trying and eventually if we don’t bum them out or scare them away so that we have to start over every year our AYSO refs will be the greatest!
