Millard County could not have a woman (as commis sioner) I'd say 'Is it me personally?’ and they'd say "No” Roger recalled “a fellow in LeamReington who said he voted straight publican all his life but he wouldn’t want to vote for a woman" “But those were just a few" Lana said “I had equally as many very good men backing me" Some women “probably” voted for her based on gender Lana said "but you know I couldn't have won with just their votes” Gender votes for and against probably cancelled each other out she said Lana avoided gender as an issue T didn’t want to be known as a feminist or an activist” she said "or anything other than just ahard work er”Her impression was that most voters insisted gender not be an issue It may have been a factor “but it was a real small one” Lana said The real factor was that voters beand lieved Lana was willing to get in there and make tome changes" she said “That was great” RogeT said he was told a lot of people were impressed with the effort Lana put into the campaign “She got out and worked" he said "They figured if she would do that just for an elecuon maybe she’s the kind of people we need” No longer employed at the cheese plant Lana is free to devote more time to county business an unusual situation “It's considered a job" she said “A man could not support a family on it” Lana said she feels communication is very important for government to function “From the beginning I felt like the people’s voice was not being heard” she said “I know that's so trite Every campaign somebody says that But you know it’s true" To remedy that Lana said she wants to hold regular office hours in the Delta county office “I haven’t picked a day yet" she said “but I’m going to pick a day when I'm going to be there and they can come and talk to me” Scout cookie time It's Girl Scout cookie time and the Millard Co Girl Scout are gearing up for another great cookie sale The HonRoss orary Cookie Sale Celebrity Tim KUTV Channel 2 Weatherman is
