Show Millard County Chronicle Progress December 27 1990 Page 5 COMMUNITY EVENTS - — - " Three fires in Fillmore spouse Two hydrants had to be used to get sufficient water Also on Dec 22 an electrical fire at the El Ana Motel on Main Street was reported at 7:1 3 pm Four trucks came to their aid and the building damage was estimated at approximately $1000 Extreme temperatures below 0 degrees were reported by Jay Rogers on Dec 22 23 and 24 1990 He confirmed his official US Weather Bureau readings of 36 degrees 42 and 43 degrees on those dates in Flow ell Fires dampened the Christmas spirit in Fillmore over the weekend On Dec 19 a chimney fire from a wood burning stove did $5000 worth of damage to the home of Jim Larsen 437 So 100 W Five trucks responded at 8:20 pm The shop of Lance Brunson 37 N 300 W was totally destroyed at :35 am on Dec 22 by a coal furnace fire Approximately $20000 worth of damage was sustained Six trucks responded but due to the extreme cold the trucks were frozen which hampered their quick re- - Leslie Stott Candy Stripers of the month Candy Stripers of the month at the Fillmore Community Medical Center are Hollie Phillips and Leslie Stott Hollie is the daughter of Ed and Phillips of Kanosh Hollie has been a candy striper for the past few months and really enjoys the time she spends at the Hospital She loves working and talk- Breezy Leslie is the daughter of Steve and Martha Stott of Hatton She attends Fillmore Middle School where she is in the 8th grade Leslie lives on a farm and loves animals especially her cats and horse Her favorite hobby is reading She also enjoys cooking and sports Leslie is a very loving and caring person and really enjoys working at the hospital with the older people The President Millard Fillmore Library Own Huntar ing with people Hollie is in the 8 th grade at the Fillmore Middle School where she is the school newspaper editor Some of her other activities include playing the piano playing basketball cooking and dancing Horse ProHollie is involved in the gram and spends hours with her horse Utah Thanks to patrons Visiting with other library workers often bring to mind how polite considerate our patrons are of the library property and other patrons The staff would like to say “Thank you” for the outstanding cooperation you have shown throughout the past year You read 22473 of our books last year Ovcrducs have been constantly duced which makes it more fair for other patrons who may be waiting for a specific txxk and much less work for the library staff Keep up the good work New books Guess whose turn it is to get the new txxxks! The staff are working on 60 new txxiks These are fiction and The arc in the sciences which should help out with science projects or just natural curiosity We could not slight the young adults and adults so we arc getting some new txxiks there also but not nearly as many as the kids get this time Remember Birthday party The anniversary of President Millard Fillmore's birthday is January 8 so look for something special in the library 6 to 8 pm The entertainment will be by the singer of the sixth grade and a Whatrit contest from the Statchouse Museum Everyone is invited Refreshments will be served Antiques will be on display Thedisplay will extend until January 14 Holiday hours The library will be closed early on New Year's Eve and closed for both Christmas and New Year’s Day Books may be returned to our new book drops when the library is closed There is a slight problem with our books or several front door txxiks need to be put in one at a time and spine first if possible in the book videos Please do not put drops or keep them in your car all day cither in ex treme heat or cold We would like the videos to last as long as possible and the above mentioned conditions are harmful to them Volunteers During the Hoi idays we plan to work who txxiks on wishes to help out for an hour or more please call ahead and come in Sec you in the library!
