Show Page 6 Millard County Chronicle Progress August ? iQQn Delta Middle School Jenny Travis Reid and Shawn Ouarnberg of Millard High School are greeted Washington DC by Scott Crouch of Cicero Indiana Secretary of the National FFA Organization Travis Reid and Shawn Ouarnberg are National FFA Washington Conference Proattending the gram members also discussed Visits to Mount Vemon the Smithsonian Institution Arlington National Cemetery the Jefferson Memorial and other historic sights in Washington are included in the conference A highlight of the week is a visit to the office of Senator Jake Gam of Utah The FFA members also had an opportunity to visit both the House of Representatives and Senate chambers while Congress was in session The chapter’s FFA advisor is Ben Hunter Venez Johnson 82-- Attention football players Jenny W'right recently completed a chemistry program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City Fifty students from across the state participated in the program Jenny received a partial tuition scholarship for academic achievements The program began June 11 and continued for five weeks ending July 13 Jenny received 12 of college chemistry credit for successful completion of the course While in Salt Lake Jenny received a 50 hour service pin for volunteer work at the Veterans Administration Medical Center She dedicated her donated hours to the LDS Church Jenny was also offered scholarships to attend the Governors Cup Conference at SUSC and a conference at the Uni versify of Utah but had to decline because of attending the chemistry course attend conference Travis Reid and Shawn Quambcrg of the Millard Eagle FFA Chapter of Millard High are attending the 1990 Washington Conference Program in the capital The program helps FFA members improve leadership skills develop an understanding of national heritage and prepare for more effective leadership roles in their chapters and communities Sessions on human relations goal setting and personal communications develop these skills Personal outlook motivation and pride are Wright Wright completes program in Millard Eagle FFA Delta Middle School will conduct of students on Wed August 15 1990 from 9 am to 12 pm New students to the Delta area will the office in Students returning register to DMS as well as students from Delta North and Delta South Elementary Schools will register in the DMS foyer Lunch pledges will be completed and paid for that time Student's homeroom assignment will also be confirmed Please make every effort to students so that an accurate enrollment may be prepared Class schedules for 7th and 8th grade students will not be distributed at that time Rather class schedules will be issued from homeroom classes on the first day of school Wednesday August 22 1990 at the Administrators Awards ceremony in the Jefferson Auditorium in Washington DC on June 12 1990 as a recipient of the Administrator’s Award for Service to Agriculture This award which is ASCS’s highest form of recognition was presented to Venez for her exceptional knowledge ability and dedication to developing system 36 computer software which has resulted in cost savings and improved working conditions for 2800 County ASCS office throughout the United States Keith B Bjerkc Administrator and Dan Shaw Deputy Administrator of State and County operations presented Venez a beautiful plaque and cup Venez worked in the Millard County ASCS Office for 26 years before being assigned in September 1987 to work at the headquarters of the Cotton Grain and Rice Price Support Division in Washington DC As a permanent employee of the Special Program Branch she is CGRD Program Specialist responsible for 1988 1989 and 1990 automated deficiency and diversion payments administered through ASCS She travels extensively to Kansas City (KCMO) where she tests payment software before releasing to ASCS County Offices Kyle Kyle Higgs son of Terry and Anita Higgs of Kanosh Utah received his “Eagle Scout Award” on Saturday July 21 1990 This special ceremony was held at the North Park in Fillmore Utah Kyle has two older brothers who have also earned their Eagle Awards Kyle is one of the youngest in his Troop to achieve this award He is thirteen years old His mother gave hisTrail to Eagle” and his father presented his Eagle pin and certificate For his project he planned and supervised the building of a drinking fountain at the Kanosh Little League Park His project consisted of planning digging and pouring a cement foundation on a prepared drain field and laying a cinder block base and foundation which was la ter covered with decorative rock This project consisted of 36 manhours of which he provided half of these hours himself For his accomplishments Kyle received a personal letter from President Bush and his wife a certificate from the United States Air Force and an American Flag from Senator Gam which flew over the United States Capital on Kyle’s birthday
