Gone is the town even the rubble from the schoolhouse foundation and chimne) The sign on the side of the road states that it is McCornick But it really is a ghost town isn't it? How marvelous it is to me that Madge Bunker Hale had this picture of her school davs in McCornick in 1929 A ear later everyone had moved away ing Cedar City as well as other more distant places At one time in its heyday there were 75 families living there The settlement grew so rapidly that as early as June 22 1919 a Branch organization of the LDS Church was created but was called Onidah Branch at first Very soon however there was McCornick Ward fully a organized and functioning lustily At first there was ample irrigation for a few years Then the water on began and continued droughts unmercifully until every family had lost out and moved away by late 1930 The brief life of McCornick was an happy time for those who lived there The children especially had a carefree rollicking few years Look at the smilof ideal childhood -
