Ashby said “you have to be about half It’s crazy to join It takes dedication not all glory but it’s just a k4 of nari dirty work and they have to be able and willing to do it” Training sessions are scheduled twice a month “We do a lot of training” Lynn Ashby said “We have training up in Orem every August Sometimes we have state people come down here and train us Right now we’re getting ready to take a first responder fu st aid class” A meeting is held every Wednesday except the second Wednesday of the month Qualifications also include certifiable good health Volunteers are not paid Then why do they do it? at the State Contest in Logan and illustrated In demonstrations talks: Shalmte Tracy Kristen Burns and Michelle Chantberland all in horse Bennett demonstration Stephanie Dan plant pressing demonstration Nielson illustrated talk on beryllium Darcy Robinson and Julie Watson will be competing in public speaking Becky Taylor and Ann Marie Lake prepared and served a meal to the judges they will be competing in the meal preparation contest The beef ambassador contest is new must tell about the this year importance of the beef industry and then prepare a dish that contains beef Beverly Taylor will represent Millard County in this contest The horse judging and hose bowl teams consist of 4 young ladies that really know their stuff they are Missy Sides Krtsten Burns Jamie Peterson and Jackie Skeem Bennett and Brandon Stephanie Anderson will be competing in the crops judging contest Jessica and Brandon Anderson will be showing everyone at the state con tests their tractor driving skills Brandon Anderson and Tiftanie Robins will be our livestock judging team Extension Agent Jody Gate conducted the shooting sports The competed in 3 areas rifle shotgun and archery Sam Draper and Dan Nielson will be competing in all 3 areas Brooke Peterson and Beverly Taylor will be competing in shotgun and rifle Lisa Nielson will be shooting in rifle The style dress review is the contest that shows off our best seamstresses Lisa Nielson and Katrina Hirschi will have a chance to win a Bernina Serger at the state contests The talent show concluded tne days competed activities 4 talented Lisa City Park on Monday July 24 1989 Activities will begin at 4 pm with a Primary Children's Parade followed by an entertaining program at 5 pm Other activities will include coni dogs brownies and root beer The group extends an invitation for ' eryone to attend and have an enjoyable time 4-- H Spotlight When farmers around the West Millard area are looking for people to do custom work a lot of them call the Robert Anderson home in Oasis Robert and Dorothy have 2 lop farm hands who can do just about anything when it comes to farming Jessica and Brandon Anderson are 2 that keep busy all year long In the summer they do custom wotk that ranges from discing to swathing in the winter they are workand hay ing with the animals to get them ready for the stockshow Jessica is 17 and will be a Senior at Delta High School She has been volved in for several years and has had projects that include cooking and beef and swine sewing photography Jessica loves to wotk with production the animals she even had a little pig named after her when it decided to move in the house She fed it on a bottle and raised it like it was a kid She also has a big heart Last year her younger brother’s pig died and since was his first year to show she gave him her pig and she wasn’t able to participate at the stockshow Jessica is a member of the Millard Teen Council and will County also be competing at the State Contests in Tractor Driving Jessica has won many awards for het work in She has won a wetner pig for her swine record book She has won many ribbons for her swme and beef projects In photography she has won muit) blue ribbons and had her pictures go to state fair Jessica is an accomplished scuba diver She has dove off the California coast where she brought up starfish abulony shells and snails The snatls survived the trip back to Utah m bet dive bag Jessica loves to horseback ride and she also likes to go camping and deet hunting with her family She also likes to take care of her hamsters even ll hei dud calls them rats Brandon doesn’t have to grow up u see his dreams come true At the ripe old age of 14 he bought his own swather and is custom cutting hay in the Delta area He has to make a S4000 payment every year so he keeps pretty busy last year he even showed a profit When it conies to winning awards Brandon did his share this year during the stockshow He won a wemer pig tor
