state chemistry test was administered to high schools throughout Utah through Brigham Young University Students having both and 2 years of chemistry took the test with an additional 10 questions added for the students with 2 years test consisted of 50 The chem This year multiple choice questions 528 students from 18 high schools in Utah took the test At Delta High of Don and son DeGraw Sherry Tyler DeGraw tied for 3rd in the state He will receive a handbook of chemistry and physics as well as a subscription to the magazine “Chemical Matters” Daniel Davison son of Wilbur and Magret Davison and Kathy Anderson daughter of Scott and Barbara Anderson both also from Delta tied for 6th place in the state They both received subscriptions to “Chemical Matters” The high score in the state was 47 2nd place score was 46 third place 45 and due to the large amounts of people receiving a score of 44 4th 5th and 6th place were all called 6th place due to the bell curve grading system used John Plummer and Tyle Peterson represent seventh grade boys with special duet Miss Chandra Chapman teacher directed the vocal performances Daniell C Davison a senior at Delta High School has been awarded the Browning Academic Scholarship at the University of Utah an honor given to incoming freshmen Davison plans to major in mining engineering at the U and is the son of Bill and Margaret Davison Hinckley Utah and been He has photographer for his school’s “Model” and been in newspaper honors chemistry He has also won a creative writing award for a science tion story Students are eligible to apply for the scholarship if they major in mining engineering and have a 30 grade point average Winners are awarded a full tuition waiver as long as they average and meet 15 credit hours a quarter other requirements Recently Utah State University held its annual Physic’s Day Students from Delta High’s Physics class under the direction of Janet Reeve attended the day long event full of contests and demonstrations Lex Steele participated in the computer programming contest based on the topic of nuclear fusion Duane Kerr Terry Jensen Ryan Mork Joeral Loukinas and Dan Nielsen participated in a mousetrap missle contest where a mousetrap was used to propel a missle through the air After the contests students watched demonstrations on light lasers electricity and a variety of other topics To close the event an awards ceremony was held and university professors presented awards for top performers A team containing Joeral Loukinas Terry Jensen Ryan Mork and Dan Nielsen placed 3rd of 10
