Show Millard County I Thurv ISP1) April 27 1989 Delta Middle School SPACE ASTRONAUTS: Christensen and Clay Becky Kyle Rowley Amber Johnson Delta North Elementary In The News Nathan Amber Davies DMS commences Arts Festival With the theme “Splavh ot krt” Delta Middle School got oil to a good start this week with dance music and drama Still to come are paintings and other creative arts which will be featured in the ensuing weeks “Space Odyssey” was the title ot an pertormance of enchanting the Fifth Grade classes of Miss Elayne Mrs Mrs Carole Fransen Roper and Mrs Vickie Marilyn Johnson Gillen Mrs Fransen and Mrs Gillen the did were announcers Elayne Roper Mrs Johnson and the choreography other teachers directed the music and Fillmore Middle School Mustangs t Josh Probert through a team created the production effort "We studied the solar ‘wem and combined a variety of activities into the program” said Miss Roper Physical education and music were incorporated in the dancing and singing The entire student body saw the ” “Space Odyssey show Special guests included parents and several classes from the Delta North Elementary Favorable comments from School many of the lewers rated the program ” “outstanding Kathy Rowley and Lovell Julie Utah Farm Bureau Patriotic Program On Tuesday April 18 1989 at 1:30 Mrs Julie Lovell and Mrs Kathy Cowley presented a special patriotic urogram to Delta North Elementary second Grade students Mrs Lovell ind Mrs Rowley taught the 7 and 8 Con(ear olds the preamble to the US stitution They taught the preamble vith some special hand signals that nade it easy for the students to emember The kids caught on really jm Jason Aguiar fast as some of them recalled learning the preamble last year during the bicentennial celebration of the Constitution at Delta North We thank the Utah Farm Bureau for sending this special program to our school and we especially thank Julie and Kathy for the outstanding job they did with out students We are already looking forward to their visit again next year! FMS students excel at Regional Science Fair Left to right: Jenny and Sarah Hyde Ford Jason Lester Doug Petersen Rick Murdock “The Romance of Rattlesnake Ridge” western melodrama was one of three stage productions featured this week at Delta Middle School Complete with audience participation to emsentimental phasize sensational cidents the play was enjoyed by the student body and received commendation as a professional production Main characters in this play were the eighth grade students shown in the above picture In addition character roles were portrayed by Lori Jones W'endi Nelson Naomi May and Staci Todd Jenny Ford acted the part of “Purity Snow” Jason Lester “The Ghost” Doug Petersen “Cadwallader Snipe" Rick Murdock “Algernon Oakheart” and Sarah Hyde “Tarantula Tess” Other plays included “Tilhe the Teller” and “Perils of Cinderella ” All three were directed by Rhonda Harrison drama teacher They are part of Delta Middle Schools arts festival which will extend into next week with a “Splash of Art ” A Main characters ir “T!!:c Teller” were portrayed by Iriv Terry Tara Dailey Brandon Bishop Rick Murdock Sam Brenda Jeffery Nielson Kris Kooyman Kiley Chase Jessica Turley and Dena Christoffer-soA scene from this play accompanies the article “Perils of Cinderella” was performed by Lori Jones Susie Massa Katie Bloomfield Karalee Day Roberta Allred Amy Skeem Staci Todd Coby Hansen Tony Beckstrom Sharia Pace David Lisonbee Wendi Nelson Jason Lester Naomi May and Kelly Johnson Miss Harrison extended a special thanks to Steve Willoughby for his help with the sound system lighting etc Accolades also went to Julie Webb’s Tifth Period Art Class for artistic backdrops and scenery These students included: Jenny Ford Sherri Bennett Wendt Nelson Jodi Bevan Krystal Fowler and Ginny Lake Susie Massa Norman Gorman Sherry Willoughby Shannon Lewis and Shelly Campbell the Over 65 percent of the world's population goes through the day without coming in contact with a newspaper radio television or telephone Fifteen students from Fillmore Mid die School placed high in the Regional Science Fair held in Cedar City or April Stacey Stevens won the National Aeronautics and Space Administration First Place Award as well as the Astronomy Book Award for her entry “How to Tell the Date by the Stars” Jason Aguiar won the Fastman Kodak First Plate Award for his on animation in motion pictures First place awards in their categories were won by Josh Probert for his pro Attention Livestock Exhibitors I S' 4 ject on bacterial sensitivity to antibiotics and by Amber Davies for her “So That’s How It botany project Works ” in their Second place winners Hollie were Phillips Wade categories Nichole Stevens Nancy Christensen Nixon Cynthia Olson and DeEtte Peterson Third place winners in their categories were Kaela Phillips Colby Olivia Robinson Jason Aguiar Packham and Abbie Memmott A i : F !: fJ If i jy$ DNES at Disneyland!
