project “It’s like an endorsement” County Administrator Robyn Pearson said "You can get a better bond rating and a better sale out on the bond market but the public entity does not stand any of the hospitals in Fillmore and Delta was provided by a bond issue County Commissioner Mike Styler said industrial development revenue bonding is a “fairly common practice” It allows a government entity like Millard County “to loan their good credit name so to speak to a commercial venture” Styler further explained a bond issue involves the private sector in that a commercial enterprise enters into a contract with a bonding company for capital But the county profits if a venture it supports through a bond issue results in jobs and tax revenue “That’s why we’re willing to help them reduce their bond rate” he said “We want them to build here and this is one way we can help them do that” But 1989 is the last year that dustrial revenue bonds can be issued “Some have abused the privilege” Pearson said “so Congress is The withdrawing that permission” new tax law “sunsets” the program at the end of this year The program applies to manufacturing and mining activities only Other types ol
