She staled that hazardous conditions existed as she drove her children to school and she was very worried that accidents might occur Her calls for assistance resulted in little or no satisfaction An employee of IPSC called expressing concern for all people traveling on the unplowed Jones Road "I hope something is done before someone gets killed or seriously hurt” he said lie had called the County Road Depart ment only to be told that plowing might move rocks on the road His call he added was taken politely and he was told that someone from IPSC could call the Road Depaitment whenever road attention was deemed necessary The caller wondered "Why is the responsibility of IPSC to let the County know when roads need to be plowed?" All callers seem to the th City and County need to pay attention to safety on the roads with prompt snow removal even if extra money must be spent by Dawn Carder County officials left Salt Lake City on Tuesday January $ on an inspection tour of three incinerators and landfills owned and operated by Rollins Services Inc hose making the tour were Millard County Commissioners Mike Styler Warren Jensen and Abe Johnson Lynndyl Mayor Alan Nielson Connie Best Lynndyl Planning and Zoning Commission Leon Smith Millard County Planning and Zoning Chairman State Representative Joe Moody (also Chairman of House Health Commission) Thorpe Attorney for Rollins Waddingham and State Senator fred I inlinson Council invited The Lynndyl Town Rollins Fn vironmental Services Inc to make a presentation on November 4 1987 The purpose of the meeting was for Rollins to explain a proposed dustrial hazardous waste incinerator and landfill for the disposal of in dustrial hazardous waste following the meeting a poll was taken and the Council unanimously decided to continue to gather data and make the spection of the three plants located in Houston Texas Logan New Jersey and Baton Rouge Louisiana According to Millard County Commissioner Mike Styler the officials flew Irom Salt Lake City to Houston on Tuesday then toured the Texas site on Wednesday From Houston they flew to Baton Rouge Louisiana where they inspected that site on T hursday After (lying to Philadelphia they inspected the final New Jersey-o- n I riday then were to return to Salt Lake City I riday evening At each location prior arrangements had been made for meetings with elected officials for discussion of the incinerator's affects both good and bad on the area A task force of engineers and other technical people connected with Rollins made a study of possible location sites for th" construction of an incinerator Four sites in Millard and landfill County were selected as meeting the Rock a site itial requirements-Blatwo secwest of IPP approximately tions of land near I ynndyl and Industrial Park Once back in Millard County Commissioner Styler stated that he and the other local officials will evaluate the formation gathered on the trip If they will invite favorably impressed The Rollins to pursue the proposal is main question to be considered “How will an industrial hazardous waste incinerator and landfill for the waste hazardous disposal of industrial affect the Millard County area?” WMRD assumes ownership of White Sage Regional Park by I)aH Carder following a series of public hearings attended by approximately two hundred people Delta City and the West Millard Recreation District have entered an interlocal agreement by which the District assumes ownership and responsibility for the White Sage Regional Park The two parties entered into the agreement on December 29 1987 to Willis Morrison According WMRD Chairman public opinion at the hearings was supportive of the take 182 persons in over Approximately dicated that they were in favor of the District taking over operation of the Park The Park was built by Intermountain Power Agency and dedicated to the City of Delta in an attempt to alleviate the impact during construction of the Intermountain Power Project Due to loss of impact alleviation payments the City can no longer afford to maintain the park Having determined a continuing need for recreational facilities the West Millard Recreation District Board and Delta City agreed that the District would assume ownership of the UPA Winter Convention ATI EM ION!!!
