It has nothing to do with canned lunch fish or a character named Charley The school play at MHS this year is “Greater Tuna" by Jaston Williams Joe Sears and Ed Howard But it is about a small town in Texas called Tuna and the surrounding rural area hence the title “Greater Tuna” “This is an ensemble cast with lots of talent and drive” said Mr Carling of the young group who makes up the cast “Some of them take two or three parts each and do a nice job” This is comedy at its best! So come on out to the MHS school production of “Greater Tuna” Performances will be Saturday November 21 and Monday November 23 at 7:30 pm in the The cost is High School Auditorium only $2 for adults and $ for students Class showing off handcrafted marionettes concludes Several varieties of puppets made their appearance during the hour performance There were paper bag puppets jello box puppets worm puppets toilet paper roll puppets muppets fish puppets paper mache puppets clown puppets (see picture) and jug head puppets The audience thoroughly enjoyed the program The puppets made by the students will become prized possessions in the years to come Mrs Kapler’s fourth grade is particularly proud and fond of their hand crafted clown marionette puppets Indeed they should be Delta North appreciates the opportunity to participate in the Arts in Education program and looks forward to future involvement with the Utah Arts Council On Thursday evening November 12 the Delta North' Elementary auditorium was the setting for a very by impressive puppet performance students in grades through 4 Approximately 325 puppeteers performed for a standing room only crowd of parents and patrons The program was the culminating activity of a two week residency sponsored in part by the Delta North PTA the Utah Arts Council the National Endowment for the Arts and Delta Professional pupNorth Elementary peteer Audrey Hagen and her husband Lee have been working with Delta North students for the past two weeks They have taught the students the arts of puppet construction and performance & $ KELBY SWALLOW 18 of Flowell Utah was one of four regional winners competing for the title of 1987 National Soil and Water Management Winner Swallow is pictured here with Jeff Brazo Assistant Executive Director National FFA Foundation Thanks Mrs Bean Swallow competes as nationalist finalist Kelby Swallow 18 of the Millard Eagle FFA Chapter representing the Western Region competed as a National finalist with three other regional winners in the Soil and Water Management Proficiency Award program a this years 60th National FFA Convention in Kansas City Missouri for the title of National Winner fei llilfe t0§S!ii smanfjcr The Soil and Water Management Proficiency Award program is sponsored by Ford New Holland Inc New Holland Pennsylvania as a special project of the National FFA Foundation Since Kelby was a small boy he has been involved in the family farming He has learned to operate operation all the machinery and equipment and is an extremely hard worker Being this involved in farming Kelby recognizes the great urgency to conserve our soil and water resources He prevents erosion improves the productivity of the soil and promotes the efficient use of water Through these activities he has enabled their farm to become one of the most productive operations in the state due to the efficiency of his soil and water management practices Kelby will be attending college this fall Swallow is the son ot Garth and Swallow 1 New to our staff but not to the Delta South Elementary this year is our Secretary Aid Mrs Nolene Bean Mrs Bean’s responsibility is helping Mrs Brown with the duties of the school office Mrs Bean is an accomplished pianist She has shared this talent with us many times in the past having played for many of our school programs She is the mother of four children Tammi a Senior in high school Sherri a Freshman Greg student of the 6th grade at Delta Middle School and Jason a 2nd grader here at DSE Her husband Quinn is an employee of lPSC Welcome aboard Mrs Bean May you enjoy us as much as we appreciate you A great big Coyote Card thank you!
