Tisha Mortensen and Wendy attendants Stanworth Besides these trials each girl was assigned to make a poster with the theme of “FFA agriculture” An assembly was held Friday where Near the the contestants participated end of the assembly an auction was held to sell the cakes each girl baked for the event They were also interviewed and asked questions pertaining to agriculture To choose the AnFran drea Henrie Tisha Mortensen Rowley and Wendy Stanworth Friday night the FFA put on the annual Sweetheart Ball where the royalty reigned Four students win money from writing V Kim Allen recently won a $2500 savings account at the MEA Credit Union in a contest she entered with the theme “The Most Miserable Thing I Ever Did for Money” The title of Kim’s story was “$10 and a Thank You” about a babysitting escapade which she had The contest was judged by the local League of Writers Her entry earned 145 points out of 175 Miss Beckwith sponsored the contest which began as a class assignment Prize money was donated from four banks inthe area: MEA Credit Union Delta Valley Bank Zions and First Security Kim said that she didn’t enter the contest with any intention or expectation of winning She simply did it as an extra assignment for Miss Beckwith’s class She said that although she doesn’t plan on being a writer she would like to be a school teacher in junior high “I would like to teach English or history” said Kim She was not the only winner Three other students shared equal prizes: TJ David Bird and Maria Schmanski Oman all claimed prizes TJ’s story “The Hole” recounted how he once made ten dollars for being the target of a clod war David Bird’s story “Most Miserable Dollar” described how he was talked 'horse but into riding a ended up in a pile of green goo Maria Oman’s piece
