greatest outpouring yet to aid dozens of needy families many of sshom arc ssorse off than eser ssith the sloss dossil in the county economy our years ago a less' IPP ssorkers raised funds for a program which aided some 19 families Last year’s effort netted aid for 57 families and this year ssith an esen mote ambitious organization and more community involvement more familes than eser ssill many diserse elements together for one coordinated effort "This year we decided to really get otganized" said committee member Inez Moody "But what has really boosted the program is the spontaneous from all outpouring of contributions user the area" she said There is no doubting the need said state Family Services head Scott “We just completed a Speakman needs survey and in summary we can say the need is as great if not greater this year Certainly many are no better off this year because the economy here has slowed down considerably" he said The program licked-off thlf season last week with a Blue Notes concert and ticket drawing "With little effort the drawing tickets sold themselves” said committee member Jean Smith who noted that the traditional concert at Delta High School raised some $420 at the door and an additional $600 for the draw proing contest for the gram (see related story) Another notable effort has been that of Tatt Security at IPP which for the second year in a row has dedicated a year long effort toward raising money for the program This week Tatt Captain Hugh Foster presented the committe with a check for $1000 and committee member George Cox in turn presented Captain Foster with a special Santa trophy in recognition of the group which contributed the most to the effort The trophy was the personal donation of Mr Cox and it is intended that it be free passes Despite this impressive list of efforts Mrs Moody said that it is incomplete "We have money and goods coming in from all over and it would be hard to make a complete list of donations Suffice it to say we are seeing a great response" Of course accepting the donations is only a small part of the task of aiding needy families The committee under of Bob Moody the and Carmen Foster has been preparing for the job of finding the families determining their needs and then coordinating delivery of the goods "We get family names from State Family Service church leaders and Mrs Moody said "Then we make a list with the ages and sizes of family members so that we can determine what kind of gifts will be appropriate" Along with toys and gifts needy families will be receiving hams and
