a birthday party on Labor Day weekend More than 70 family members gathered at the Legion Hall for a luncheon program and some visiting They were celebrating Dean’s 80th and Paul's 85th both of which visit her parents Don and Ilena Tomkinson and brother Rodney They came especially to attend Connie’s class reunion at MHS in Fillmore They were also privileged to be present at the LDS Stake Center in Fillmore Aug 31 when their brother Rodney was ordained an Elder in the PS Church The Strattons returned to their home later that day Mrs Acel (Vicky) Butcher and three daughters of Kearns were here for the weekend and Labor Day holiday with her parents Dean and Shirley Allen They visited with grandma Ruth Allen also Mrs B N (LaDawn) Williams and children of Henderson were here for this last big holiday of the summer They visited her brothers and family Garth Swallow wife Carma and sons Kent Swallow wife Peggy and children and father Albert Swallow and his wife Algie at Fillmore Guests for the holiday weekend of Mrs Jarold Robison and son Jaren was his roommate at BYU David Casper and a friend JoAnn Brower of St Louise MO also a student at BYU maiden name is Peggy Robison’s Brower so it may be interesting as they dig into genealogy to see if JoAnn and Peggy are relatives back a few years On Aug 28 Arthella came to visit Virgie Ivie The next day Arthella called Virgie and invited her to come and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the hostess Turned out it was her birthday which she kept secret until her guest arrived The visits and the dinner were enjoyable and appreciated It was a surprise and an enjoyable tributes musical numbers and responses Paul’s family at present includes a Mattie Ann and a son daughter Easton He has six grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren making a total of 32 Dean’s family at present include four Shirlene children Beverly Chesley and 38 and Fred 24 grandchildren This brings their great grandchildren combined posterity to 98 plus all the husbands and wives MEADOW Norma Gagon Ph Mervin and Carolyn Beckstrand spent Labor Day with the Harold Beckstrands They had been vacation- ing and stopped by on their way home1 to Heber City Also Larry and Cheryl Hatch dropped by that evening to show off their new baby daughter Sara Ann They had been in Bountiful to attend the wedding and reception of Cheryl’s brother Baby Sara got an early start on attending such events she was just six days old! A trip to Salt Lake for a doctor’s apwas made enjoyable for pointment Della Bennett when her Marlene Westphal and grandson Damon did the chauffeuring Well deserving of a Flora and Odell Stewart drove over to Richfield Friday afternoon spent time Jane and ith daughter family and got in some shopping Stephen stayed home to attend the Elder’s Quorum Social in our new park The ladies challenged the men to a ball game but made the gents have one arm tied behind that’s not fair! Even with all that the gals still lost Tammy said “We should have tied their knees together!” The new park is an ideal setting for all such activities and this one was a big success fun games and good food Looking forward to a new married couple in our midst a bridal shower hosted by Tammy Beckstrand and Mary Ann Bond was given for Sheri Tolman at the home of Tammy A large gorup of the younger set attended for a lovely evening Sheri is the bride elect of Jim Barger Over the weekend Sharon and Jody Edwards went to Salt Lake to take in the exciting Ice Capades and roam the State Fairgrounds They stayed with Valorie and Sheldon Hathaway and reported having a “ball” Even though we live quite a distance from all these enjoyable things with a little effort we can manage to attend some of them and broaden our horizons a bit Well that’s my sermon for the day Keep smiling one when Emily Neilson and children Amanda and Brian called on Labor Day to visit with Virgie Ivie Richard hunted doves in Flowell while Emily visited The children have grown since last saw them They are darling beautiful Richard and Emily and children had visited for a few days with his parents Don and Jean Neilson at Aurora Richard and family left Flowell to return to their home in Reno where they moved on Father's Day this year Virgie Ivie appreciated very much a visit from her grandchildren Terry Baldwin and wife Terri Lynn and four children Aug 31 They were overnight guests that evening of Terri Lynn’s parents Boyd and Judy Melville at Fillmore returning to their home in Cedar City Labor Day |
