Show Millard Grand Hayseed: Orin Allred The tradition in its second year of Grand Hayseed to preside over Hay Days will be honored this year with the presence of Orin Allred Orin was born in Desert in 1920 to B Thomas and LaVern Western Allred His parents and grandparents also lived in Desert Orin attended the AC Nelson Elementary School located between Deseret and Oasis He graduated from Hinckley High School in 1939 After working for UP Railroad until 942 he joined the Navy and served for years in the South Pacific In 1943 he married Jean Alldredge Millard County Fair Hay Days August 6-- 23-2- San Francisco After the war he went to be caretaker at Yuba Dam for two years The next move was to Oak City as carpenter for Melvin Roper They built several homes in the area and also the North Elementary in Delta They also of went to help with the Kearns and then the High School at Tooele In 1954 Orin was asked to be manager of the West Millard and has spent 34 years building it into what
